Cole Tucker Opens Up About His Relationship With Vanessa Hudgens

Following Vanessa Hudgens' split from actor Austin Butler in January 2020, the singer found herself in a new relationship with Major League Baseball player Cole Tucker. Speculation about a romance first sparked in November 2020 when they "appeared to enjoy a date night" together, per the New York Post. The Daily Mail even published photos of the pair looking pretty cozy and obviously enjoying each other's company, noting that the "former Disney Channel star looked simply smitten" during her date with the Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop. Indeed, she absolutely "beamed as she wrapped her arms around Tucker, while they waited at a valet stand to get their car after a romantic dinner date." How cute!

Things got even more adorable when Valentine's Day rolled around in February 2021. The two both took to Instagram to make their social media debut as a couple, with Hudgens posting a photo of the pair sharing a kiss. She captioned the image with a heart, kissy lips, and rock-on hand gesture emoji along with tagging Tucker and writing, "It's you, it's me, it's us." In turn, Tucker popped up a pic of himself and Hudgens snuggled up together, adding a heart emoji and writing, "Happy V day ... @vanessahudgens."

While the two are clearly getting used to being public about their romance, Tucker took that to the next level when he spoke to the press about what was going on with the famous singer.

Before heading out on a date night and posting about each other on Valentine's Day, Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker kept their romance relatively under wraps during the early days of their relationship. While that's totally understandable since they both have highly public careers, he decided to open up to reporters about the woman that he's dating during the MLB's spring training in February 2021.

"I got a girlfriend and she's cool," Tucker said in a cheeky manner while talking to the press, according to CBS Pittsburgh. He continued by saying, "She's awesome. I love her, but I don't want to be treated any differently than Mitch [Keller] having his wife come down, or Ke'Bryan [Hayes] having his girlfriend come down." Yes, that's right, Tucker was referring to the fact that he doesn't want there to be an over-the-top reaction from anyone when Hudgens visits him while he's working, which is something that he admitted will happen. "She'll be around," he said. "You will see her..."

In turn, The Athletic's Rob Biertempfel tweeted about the fact that while, yes, Hudgens may show up, "no, Tucker's [teammates] didn't give him a hard time by putting [her film] High School Musical on every TV in the clubhouse when he reported for camp." Hopefully, that means that they'll also be willing to give the singer a warm welcome when she does stop by for a visit.
