Mariah Carey Talks New Love, Beefs With Demi Lovato And Ariana Grande
Mariah Carey didn't take kindly to the shade Demi Lovato threw at her over the summer.
For a refresher: in June 2016, Lovato, 24, took to Instagram to diss the legendary songstress for allegedly being rude. When a fan posted a meme of Ariana Grande, 23, and Carey, Lovato wrote, "[Carey is] a legend and so talented but constantly disses people. It's nasty the way she treats Jennifer [Lopez]. Ari did nothing wrong...The woman is mean for no reason. Extremely talented? Yes. Superhuman? Possibly. Unnecessarily rude? Absolutely."
Lovato was likely referring to Carey's longstanding beef with Lopez, which was epitomized when Carey became a meme encapsulating her quote, "I don't know her."
When Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen asked Carey about Lovato's commentary, Carey snapped (via Oxygen), "I don't know her either and so I wouldn't say anything to her. She should come up, introduce herself to me, say, 'Here's my opinion, what do you think about it?' That's how you handle s**t, okay?"
When asked about Grande's work, Carey told Cohen, "Honestly I'm not familiar, I listen to hip-hop more than I listen to pop music."
Carey was complimentary to some pop divas, calling Taylor Swift a "very nice girl—met her once. She was really sweet." She also noted that when Lady Gaga visited her backstage in New York "it was very sweet and I enjoyed the moment." She called Katy Perry a "nice girl," and said she loves Britney Spears.
The Christmas Queen also demurred questions about her "breakup agreement" with ex-fiancé James Packer, as well as her new romance with backup dancer Bryan Tanaka, telling Cohen, "I'm not used to dating. I really am, like, quite virginal. She added that she'd prefer folks watch her E! reality show, Mariah's World, to learn more. "If I tell you that [we're dating], then like, on my show, I don't get to reveal. I want people to watch the show because honestly, I don't want to go into it but when something is real, and it's a beautiful thing, you don't want to trash it up. It is what it is."
