Katharine McPhee Lets Her Feelings Out About Being A Mom

Katharine McPhee has added the title of "mommy" to her impressive list of accomplishments. The 36-year-old multi-talent, of course, became a household name when she competed in the fifth season of American Idol. After becoming the runner-up to winner Taylor Hicks in the talent search competition, her singing career took off, and she has released many albums while also establishing herself as an actor. In addition to starring on CBS' Scorpion, McPhee was also one of the leads on the hit show Smash, and starred in Waitress on Broadway.

But it's not all work and no play for the stunning star. On the personal front, McPhee married the legendary music producer David Foster, who's now 71, after a fairytale romance. According to Vogue, the couple tied the knot in London in 2019 in a lavish ceremony. Almost two years later in late February 2021, they welcomed their first child together, with the actor, singer, and songwriter giving birth to a son, per Us Weekly. While McPhee became a first-time mom, their baby boy is actually her husband's sixth child.

Just two weeks after welcoming her first child, Katharine McPhee braved social media on March 6, and shared her first post-pregnancy pic on her Instagram Stories. In the adorable photo's caption, she also revealed how she really feels about motherhood.

Katharine McPhee got honest about motherhood

Katharine McPhee glowed in the sweet photo that she shared with her followers in early March 2021. According to the Daily Mail, the star used a blue baby carrier to hold her son close while they went for a walk. Fans caught a glimpse of the newborn's head as the new mom stood on the tree-lined sidewalk and smiled at the camera. "Just in case you were wondering..." McPhee wrote. "I love being a mommy!" She followed the sentiment with two crying emojis.

While McPhee and husband David Foster have kept a low profile after the birth of their son, it appears as though the singer-actor has taken to motherhood while adjusting in the first few weeks post-partum. As a source divulged to E! around this time, "Katharine is having a wonderful time as a mother, and next up, she'll soon be promoting her new show Country Comfort on Netflix." For their part, McPhee and Foster are still keeping the baby's name quiet. But the Smash alum previously gushed to ET about expecting a boy, saying, "I always wanted a girl, that's always what I wanted — I always wanted both. Let's just be honest about that. But now that I'm having a boy, I'm like, 'Phew, wow, there's different things I need to worry about.' Versus the things I would be thinking about with a girl."

As for the infant himself, he has almost certainly struck the lullaby jackpot with his composer dad and songbird mom.
