Everything Meghan Markle Has Revealed About Baby No. 2

When Meghan Markle first stepped out to greet Oprah Winfrey during the tell-all interview on March 7, 2021, her baby bump was on full display. Naturally, Oprah was quick to ask the glowing mom-to-be whether she knew the gender of her baby. "I will wait for my husband to join us and I will share that with you," Meghan answered coyly.

Now, that big moment is here! After Harry joined Meghan in the second hour of the segment, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that their son Archie would be getting a little sister. "To have any child, any one or any two, would've been amazing. But to have a boy and then a girl, what more could you ask for?" Harry shared, per BuzzFeed. It is unclear exactly how far along Meghan is, but given her miscarriage in July 2020, it seems she waited until at least her second trimester to announce the pregnancy this time around.

So ahead of Meghan's due date, here is everything we know so far about baby No. 2.

Harry and Meghan are done having kids

It was just last month that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they were expecting their second child, exactly 37 years to the day that British tabloids broke the news of Princess Diana's pregnancy with Harry. Now, speaking to Oprah of their baby-to-be, Meghan and Harry confirmed that this will be their last child. The royals also revealed their little girl is due sometime this summer.

It is not the first time the royal pair have expressed their intention to have two children. In a 2019 Vogue interview with close friend and conservationist, Dr. Jane Goodall, Harry was clear that he and Meghan intended to have no more than two children, due to environmental concerns. "I've always thought: this place is borrowed. And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation," he shared with Vogue.

Although his brother William shares three children with wife, Kate Middleton, Harry won't be the only member of the royal family to stop at two children. He himself is one of two, and Prince Andrew, brother to Prince Charles, is father to two daughters: Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Meghan and Harry are carving out new lives in the States now, so their children will undoubtedly lead a different existence from their cousins. Time will tell what is in store for the next generation of royal babies.
