This Selling Sunset Star Is Comparing Herself To Meghan Markle

Selling Sunset eclipsed other reality TV real estate shows like Million Dollar Listing and Property Brothers when it debuted on Netflix in 2019. Since the show's premiere, its ensemble cast of real estate agents have become social media famous, boasting millions of followers between them. What makes the show such a reality TV hit is the mix of lavish and luxurious million-dollar homes found throughout Los Angeles, A-list clients like Orlando Bloom and Taye Diggs, as well as what's sure to bring in the majority of viewers... the drama! From feuds between colleagues to personal relationship woes, Selling Sunset has everything, which is why it's been, according to People, renewed for two more seasons. And one person from the show definitely does not shy away from it all, and that's Davina Potratz.

Potratz is not one to stay away from a challenge or office drama, which is why she constantly found herself facing media ire, especially after season three. Potratz confronted social media hate from the show's fans following her reaction to news of co-star Chrishell Stause's divorce from This Is Us actor Justin Hartley. When asked about the controversy in an interview, Potratz told Variety, "...I'm not in any way defending Justin and not supporting Chrishell. I absolutely support Chrishell. She knows that and I was really just trying to take a neutral stance." Because of the backlash from fans, Potratz has compared her experience to that of a certain royal family member.

Davina Potratz feels that she's been in Meghan Markle's shoes

Potratz claims that she relates to Meghan Markle's social media hate. In a televised, tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired last Sunday, the Duchess of Sussex revealed the mistreatment, acts of racism, and mental health struggles she endured while she was a senior member of the royal family after marrying Prince Harry.

The Oppenheim Group and Douglass Elliman real estate agent told Page Six that she felt "heartbroken" watching Meghan recall how she was attacked by the British press. "I can really relate to the online hate that she's been through ... It really touched me when she was explaining about the difference between perception and reality and how people twist and assume things."

Any negativity that Potratz had been receiving since the Netflix show's premiere escalated after the release of season three, sparked by the drama with Stause. Potratz remembers getting online messages containing "really, really dark stuff." So, Potratz is no stranger to how hurtful those kinds of words can be, whether you're a real estate agent or a duchess. "It's one thing to block and delete everyone, but you get thousands of messages like that," she stated. "It's like, have you considered the fact that you don't know me? That you're watching a TV show?"
