The Untold Truth Of Justin Hartley's Messy Divorce

Justin Hartley got his start in the entertainment industry by starring on the soap opera Passions from 2002 to 2006, and then later on nabbed parts on Smallville, Mistresses, and Revenge. Fast forward to 2016 when Hartley was cast as Kevin Pearson on the NBC series This Is Us, and he immediately skyrocketed to stardom. Now, not only is Hartley taking Hollywood by storm, but he's also quickly become beloved by many fans. Clearly, Hartley is not going anywhere at the moment.

While Hartley's career is on the up and up, we can't say the same about his love life. The actor was married to his Passions co-star, Lindsay Korman, for eight years, but the couple called it quits in 2012, per US Weekly. These days, Hartley and Korman — who share their daughter, Isabella — seem to be on good terms as they work to co-parent their daughter.

According to Entertainment Tonight, in January 2014, news broke that Hartley and Chrishell Stause were dating. Two years later, they were engaged. Hartley and Stause tied the knot in 2017, but, unfortunately, Hartley filed for divorce in 2019, citing "irreconcilable differences," People reported at the time.

According to court documents, Hartley listed the separation date as July 8, 2019, but Stause claimed they were together until Nov. 22, 2019. To make matters worse, Stause allegedly learned about the divorce filing after TMZ reported it.

So, what happened between Hartley and Stause? Keep reading to find out.

Chrishell Stause said her relationship with Justin Hartley was 'hard'

It's hard to come to terms with the fact that Justin Hartley and Chrishell Stause weren't a perfect match. The two seemed like they were so happy together as they constantly posted selfies on social media, attended media events, and gushed about their romance. "I'm his biggest fan," Stause told Us Weekly in March 2019. "And so I get a kick out of when people see how great he is."

Unfortunately, Hartley and Stause's relationship didn't work out, and fans weren't the only ones who were devastated. In the season 3 teaser for Stause's show, Selling Sunset, she admits she's in "shock" over the split. "When it gets to the bad, I am going to go under a rock and I am going to go off the grid," she admitted to Entertainment Tonight in May 2020.

The former flames have remained quiet as to what exactly went wrong in their marriage, but Stause revealed she is not looking forward to seeing the drama play out on screen when season 3 of Selling Sunset hits Netflix in August 2020. "I obviously really, truly love him, and it's unfortunate the way that everything happened and the timing of everything," she told ET

Despite calling it quits, Stause is hopeful that she and Hartley "can get to a place where one day [they] will look back at this and laugh." Stause also noted that the situation is "unfortunate" and "relationships are hard."

Justin Hartley and Chrishell Stause 'had been having problems for a while'

Justin Hartley and Chrishell Stause apparently "had been having problems with the marriage for a while," a source told Us Weekly after the actor filed for divorce. However, Stause and Hartley's pals didn't seem to know what was really going on between the pair as "the divorce filing was a big surprise to everyone around Justin and Chrishell in terms of their friends," the insider added.

These days, Stause is seemingly in a good place and is ready to move on with her life without Hartley by her side. "I have so many great things to focus on and so much good news," she told Entertainment Tonight in May 2020. "It's one of those things where I have to focus on what I am really grateful and fortunate for and that's a lot right now. So, I am very good."

Justin Hartley has seemingly moved on

Justin Hartley has not spoken publicly about how he is coping without his ex-wife Chrishell Stause, but on May 29, 2020, he was spotted with his former The Young and the Restless co-star, Sofia Pernas. According to photos obtained by TMZ, Pernas was spotted kissing Hartley after she dropped him off and picked him up at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles.

Hartley and Pernas — their characters dated on The Young and the Restless in 2015 — "are newly dating and enjoying their time together," a source told Entertainment Tonight about their relationship status. The lovebirds have "spent time together during quarantine," where they have gotten to "know one another better." Hartley and Pernas "have worked together in the past but weren't romantic."

Naturally, Stause is "upset" over Hartley's new romance, the insider divulged, "but she understands they both need to move on."

We're wishing Hartley and Stause all the best as they continue to navigate their new normal.
