The Truth About Scott Drew's Wife

To say that Scott Drew turned the Baylor Bears basketball team around would be a massive understatement. After arriving in Waco, Texas, in 2003, as the new head coach of Baylor University's men's team, the Kansas City native has become its "all-time wins leader," according to Fabwags.

The road has not been easy. Drew accepted the position of head coach when the Baylor Bears were embroiled in scandal. The team's former coach, Dave Bliss, resigned after investigations conducted internally by Baylor University and also by the NCAA accused him of severe violations, including making tuition payments for players, as The Dallas Morning News reported. One of those players was Patrick Dennehy, who was later killed by a teammate. Carlton Dotson was sentenced to 35 years for the murder in 2005, The Orlando Sentinel reported at the time.

Nearly all of the team's top players transferred to other programs after school officials granted the team a full release. This was the context in which Drew assumed the helm at Baylor. Since then, he has dedicated most of his time to restoring the Bears' reputation and leading them to success. Drew couldn't have done any of it without the support of his loving wife. Kelly Drew shares her husband's passion for students' success

After inheriting a team in shambles, Scott Drew led Baylor to a Sweet 16 appearance in 2010, right after the team came off NCAA probation. He also "coached nine players to All-America recognition" — accomplishments that have earned him numerous coaching awards, including the 2020 Big 12 Coach of the Year, according to Baylor University's website.

Throughout his nearly 18 years at Baylor, Coach Drew has earned a pretty penny, no doubt thanks to the unwavering support of his wife, Kelly Drew. Together, they have created a scholarship fund to assist students who would otherwise have no means of attending college, according to Player Wives"We appreciate what Baylor University stands for and the quality education it offers young people. We've been blessed by Baylor, and with that, there's no greater feeling than to give back. Being able to offer someone the opportunity to come to Baylor University is something that really excites Kelly and me," Drew has said, according to the website.

Like her husband, the former Kelly Schwab also hails from Missouri — more specifically "Cape Girardeau, where her parents still reside," according to Fab Wags. Kelly and Scott Drew have three children together: daughter Mackenzie and sons Peyton and Brody. Kelly also relies strongly on her Christian faith, which is unsurprising given that Scott Drew is well-known for sharing his religious beliefs with his players, as per Faith Driven Athlete.
