What Prince Philip's relationship with Meghan Markle was really like

Meghan Markle never shied away from sharing how she really felt about her time in the royal family, especially during her bombshell interview with Oprah.

Meghan had a hard time adjusting to royal life, telling Oprah, per CNN"that was the last time, until we came (to the United States), that I saw my passport, my driver's license, my keys. All that gets turned over."

The interview aired during Prince Philip's hospitalization, and according to the Mirror, he "would have had some fruity words to say about it." The Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers said the duke "probably wanted to bash some heads together I would imagine. He is not one for any nonsense," he said.

As for his relationship with Meghan, he was reportedly not thrilled about her romance with Prince Harry. He allegedly told Harry, "One steps out with actresses, one doesn't marry them," via The Sun.

The duke's relationship with Meghan improved slightly after Harry and Meghan's son Archie was born in 2019. He was one of the first people to see him during a chance appearance with Meghan. "We just bumped into the duke as we were walking by, which was so nice," she said, per the outlet.

Despite the alleged tension, Meghan called Queen Elizabeth when she learned of Philip's hospitalization in March 2021, per People. "I just picked up the phone and I called the queen just to check in," she said.
