Inside The Life Of David 'Son Of Sam' Berkowitz Today

David "Son of Sam" Berkowitz terrorized New York City for a year in the late 1970s. He is a serial killer who shot and killed six people and injured seven others in eight separate attacks. The hunt for him was one of the largest manhunts in the history of New York City. The media called him the .44 Caliber Killer due to his weapon of choice. Berkowitz christened himself the "Son of Sam" and claimed his killings were the orders of a demon-obsessed dog named Sam. At his trial, that was proven to be a hoax, per RadioTimes.

During the 1990s, Berkowitz amended his confession to claim he was a member of a satanic cult that planned the murders as part of their rituals. A handful of law enforcement officers thought his claim may have some merit, but a 1996 investigation into those claims didn't lead to any conclusive findings and it was suspended, per A&E.
