The True Meaning Behind 'White Teeth' By YoungBoy Never Broke Again

YoungBoy Never Broke Again (aka NBA YoungBoy or YoungBoy) is almost as famous for his controversial brushes with the law as he is for his music. The hip hop star — who has a history with Floyd Mayweather's daughter, Iyanna Mayweather — hasn't exactly stayed under the radar when it comes to legal issues, and he was arrested in March 2021 after he allegedly attempted to escape police. Per TMZ, the rapper had an "outstanding federal warrant" against him and the LAPD attempted to pull him over, but YoungBoy reportedly stopped the car and attempted to run.

Per The Sun, YoungBoy is being held at St. Martin Parish Correctional Center in Louisiana over drug and firearms charges, though the rapper has pled not guilty. But all the drama in his personal life hasn't that actually hasn't stopped him releasing new music.

The star — whose discography includes hits like "Bandit" (with Juice Wrld) and "What That Speed Bout!?" (with Mike Will Made It and Nicki Minaj) — dropped the track "White Teeth" in May 2021, but what's it actually all about? Read on for the true meaning behind the hit.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again's 'White Teeth' appears to be a nod to ditching his grill

"White Teeth" by YoungBoy Never Broke Again (aka NBA YoungBoy or YoungBoy) appears to have a self-explanatory title, as it seems to be an allude to the rapper waving bye bye to his diamond grill. The star previously rocked a seriously blinged out grill that kind of became his signature look, but he had it removed in January 2021 and even took to Instagram Live to live stream the trip to the dentist for his fans.

In "White Teeth," which he dropped around four months after having his grill removed, YoungBoy boasts about having pearly whites and seemingly how his more natural looking teeth has had an effect on his love life. Per Genius, the chorus' lyrics read, "I'm fresh as hell inside my white tee/Took out them diamonds and got white teeth/She f**kin' with me, oh, she like me/She know that basic s**t don't excite me."

The rapper also proudly shows off his bright teeth in the official music video. The off the wall video shows YoungBoy flashing his pearly whites while in a number of locations, including a store, while burning wads of cash. He also shows off a big smile in front of a car while wearing a sombrero as several bikini-clad girls dance behind him, who, it's safe to say, seem pretty excited about his bright white smile.
