Alaskan Bush People: Why Noah And Rain Brown Don't Get Along

With a family of nine, it's easy to imagine that there must be just as many disagreements as there are causes for celebration, right? Add in a changing family dynamic and you've got a powder keg of potential arguments that can quickly get out of hand. Top that off with a legal name change that could easily be mistaken for name stealing and you've now lit that powder keg. But what if neither member of this tight-knit family can technically claim a particular moniker and both feel strongly about being uniquely identified by it?

If you watch "Alaskan Bush People," you probably know what we're talking about. Noah Brown, the youngest son of Ami and the late Billy Brown, got married a few years back to a young woman who was born Ruth Alisha Merrill. Apparently, Ruth wasn't happy with her given name, and adopted the nickname "Rhain," according to In Touch Weekly. No big deal, right? Well, it was a pretty big deal to Noah's sister, Rain.

Rain Brown calls dibs on the nickname

What happens when a nickname for one family member becomes the name for another? When Ruth Alisha Merrill became Rhain Alisha, it seems understandable that Merry Christmas Kathryn Raindrop Brown, who is primarily known as "Rain," was less than pleased to find out her brother's wife was now legally sharing her favored moniker. Initially, it was reported by Blasting News that Rhain was not going to take Noah's last name to avoid the overlap. However, Noah claimed that wasn't the case: "Rhain is my wife and she is my wife for life and of course she will be taking my last name."

In the lead-up to the wedding, Noah seemed to throw some shade at sister on Instagram, possibly about the naming feud. "When you are a child like little Raindrop, you do not have to think about what you are going to eat for dinner or worry about paying bills because your parents do everything for you and you cannot take care of yourself," he captioned a selfie of him and Rhain. "Young Raindrop spends her days cuddling bunnies and playing with her dolls not knowing about the stressful lives of the adults around her."

However, with the recent tragic death of their father, Billy Brown, maybe these siblings have gained some new perspective. Both Rain and Noah posted tributes to their father on Instagram, which may not be exactly a reconciliation, but hey — it might be a start.
