In her interview with Rolling Stone, Lohan said she didn't "do drugs. Never have, never will. I don't need to do that stuff to have fun." Lindsay Lohan said she 'wanted' to go to jail in 2010
In July 2010, Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 90 days, or three months, in jail for violating the terms of her probation, Reuters reported at the time. Because of overcrowding, Lohan served 14 days. Learning that she would go to jail was "terrifying," Lohan told Oprah Winfrey. But, "somewhere inside... [I] kind of wanted to go to jail," she said. Lohan believes that, subconsciously, she wanted "to find some peace. And just have no choice but to just sit and be."
The sentence stemmed from a July 2007 DIU arrest, which came two months after her first drunken driving arrest, ABC reported. This time around, police found cocaine in her car, adding a felony drug possession charge to the mix, the report detailed. The second incident happened shortly after she left rehab.
In August 2007, Lohan pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges, resulting in a three-year probation sentence, according to TODAY. She was also ordered to complete an alcohol program and spend one day in jail. She was released after 84 minutes, with jail officials again citing overcrowding, according to Reuters. In October 2009, her probation was extended by another year, according to TODAY. In May 2010, while still on probation, Lohan flew to Cannes, France, to promote "Inferno," in which she was supposed to star as adult-film star Linda Lovelace. While at the film festival, she missed several other mandated sessions, resulting in her jail sentence, per Reuters.
Lindsay Lohan's addiction continued to cause trouble with the law
Lindsay Lohan continued to face drug and alcohol addiction after spending two weeks in jail. Just two months after being released, Lohan failed a drug test, CNN reported, in 2010. At the time, Lohan admitted she was still facing addiction. "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away overnight. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps," she said in a now-deleted tweet, according to CNN. As a result, she spent a few hours in jail and was released after posting $300,000 bail, per BBC.
After the hearing, her father, Michael Lohan, expressed his daughter should be given a longer rehab sentence, per CNN. "It's a horrible situation. I just hope the judge remands Lindsay to rehab for a longer period of time and the people in Lindsay's life that are destroying her life and leading her down the wrong path are weeded out," he told CNN.
Five months after, in February 2011, Lohan was accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a store and spent five hours in jail. Per CNN, she was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service for once again violating the terms of her probation, the report detailed. Because of overcrowding, she served her sentence under house confinement, per Reuters.
