Ryan Gosling On Epic Oscars Mix-Up: 'What Can You Say?'

Nearly a month after Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway mistakenly announced that La La Land had won the Best Picture Oscar over the actual winner Moonlight, star Ryan Gosling is finally sharing his thoughts on the jaw-dropping moment.

"What can you say? I was very happy for Moonlight at the same time. It's such a wonderful film. It's great to see such great work acknowledged," he told the Associated Press (via Us Weekly) on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017.

The actor had been promoting Song to Song, the newly released Terrence Malick film in which he stars, when he was asked about his reaction – namely laughing as the surreal scene unfolded before him on stage. His co-star Emma Stone shared similar sentiments immediately following the bizarre incident, telling ABC (via People), "I'm so beyond excited for Moonlight, I think it's one of the greatest films of all time. So as far as I'm concerned, coolest outcome ever!" However, she did admit, "the process of getting there was a trip."

It's nice to see that there are no hard feelings surrounding the historic mistake from the La La Land duo. But rightly so, it's not a topic Gosling lingered on for too long before looking toward the future. In his interview, he also revealed his hope to return to directing one day, particularly following the success of 2014's Lost River, which he said "was one of the best experiences of my professional life. I look forward to doing it again."

But in the meantime, when not making movies, on the promotion trail, or witnessing first-hand the grand oddities that live television can bring about, Gosling's making sure to spend quality time with his beautiful family. As Us Weekly detailed, he and his wife Eva Mendes took their daughters Esmeralda, 2, and Amada, 10 months, for a private tour on Jungle Island in Miami just this past Saturday, March 18th.
