What Lady Gaga And Taylor Kinney's Relationship Is Like Today

It's been a hot minute since Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney parted ways. In case you need a refresher, the Grammy Award-winning singer and "Chicago Fire" actor dated for five years. They met in 2011 on the set of "Yoü and I," got engaged on Valentine's Day of 2015, and then split in 2016, per People. Their breakup had been shocking, to say the least. Many fans were upset upon finding out about the split, especially since the pair had such great chemistry and seemed to be happy about each other's company.

When Lady Gaga announced on Instagram that they were calling it quits, she asked fans to continue to root for them. It may not have worked out, but she said that they really love each other. "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break," she wrote at the time. "We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."

While it has been half a decade since their split, many are still wondering if they remained friends. What's the deal with Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney? Do they still talk? Or is there no love lost between them? Read on to find out.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are still close to this day

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are what you would call friendly exes. A little over a year after the split, sources close to the former couple revealed that they talk often and even meet up when they get the chance to do so. "Gaga and Taylor Kinney are still very close, but they are only friends," a source told Us Weekly in 2017. "Gaga and Taylor talk or text every single day and meet up when they're in the same city." However, they clarified that "nothing romantic is happening between them."

Gaga had already confirmed this while a guest on "The Howard Stern Show" in 2016. "I'm actually very close to Taylor," she said, per Us Weekly. "He's been my lover and my friend for a really long time. He's been so supportive of the [new] album, and I support him on his show, 'Chicago Fire.'"

Kinney even continues to show that he cares for Gaga through thoughtful gestures. In the documentary "Gaga: Five Foot Two," it was shown that he sent the singer flowers before her Super Bowl performance. "Nothing like flowers from your ex-fiancé on the day of the Super Bowl," Gaga quipped. That's not all he's done to show his support; People reported that Kinney was spotted at the Chicago stop of Lady Gaga's The Joanne World Tour in 2017. How sweet!

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney will always support one another

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney may no longer be an item, but that clearly hasn't stopped them from supporting each other's work. The two have actually been vocal about loving what the other puts out, relationship status be damned. "To be fair, I think that Taylor's pretty f*cking cool that over the years no matter what creative transformation that I've gone through, he's always been very supportive of that and loving," Gaga said on "The Howard Stern Show," per Us Weekly. True enough, Kinney sang praises about Gaga when "A Star Is Born" was released. "I could only wish her the best," he told E! News. "I am really proud."

Fast forward to today, Gaga still gushes about Kinney from time to time. While campaigning for Joe Biden in Pennsylvania last year, Gaga told the crowd how she once loved a man from the state. "Did you all know I used to live here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania? ... I was engaged to a man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania," she said. "I know, I know, it didn't work out. I loved him so much. It just did not work out." She even went on to perform "Yoü and I," the very song that introduced her to Kinney.

Talk about friendly exes!

Taylor Kinney isn't one to feed into Lady Gaga's trolls

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney's relationship had a big following. Many loved their relationship to bits, but of course, as the internet goes, there were also trolls here and there who tried hard to bring them down, even post-breakup. While the former couple typically paid them no mind, Kinney accidentally once liked a comment from an obvious troll, but quickly backtracked and defended Gaga.

"Stoked you got away from Gaga. #Hollyweird," the troll wrote on Kinney's page, per Pop Crave. Unfortunately, he liked the comment, leading many to believe that there's no love lost between him and the "A Star is Born" actor.

Fans were quick to react and even went as far as comparing Gaga's success to his. "She won an Oscar and he has what?" one user wrote. Another said he's "irrelevant." Alas, it was all an accident, and Kinney was quick to defend his actions and sing Gaga praises. "Sorry for the 'like.' It was an accident. I'm only proud and happy for Stef," he later clarified, per Us Weekly. It's nice to see they are staying united and supportive of each other, accidental disses and all.
