Jenna Dewan Tatum Shares The Hilarious Way She And Channing Got Together

While most of us would jump at the opportunity to land a date with Channing Tatum, his wife Jenna Dewan Tatum wasn't exactly interested at first.

On April 25, 2017, Jenna, 36, visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show and gave the lowdown on how she and Channing, also 36, first started dating. After meeting on the set of Step Up (2006), both actors were just getting out of relationships. Jenna told host Ellen DeGeneres, "I did the whole ... 'Well, look. If you want to date other people and be free, that's totally fine. But we're not gonna hang out, you know, and watch movies.'"

"'You have to figure out what you want,'" she went on, "'Cause I know I want to be in a relationship.'"

So Channing decided to "be free," dating, according to Jenna, all the dancers on set. But his desire to stay a single man didn't last too long. After a "wild tequila night," he decided that he didn't want to date around—he wanted Jenna.

"He says he had the chance to 'be free,'" Jenna said, using air quotes, "and he couldn't stop thinking about me."

At 2 a.m., she said, Channing showed up at her hotel door, banging on it. When she opened the door, she found the Magic Mike (2012) actor wearing just his underwear, a sombrero, and Ugg boots. "'Let's do this,'" Jenna recalls him saying.

But the story's not over there. Jenna, who now has a 3-year-old daughter with Channing, then told DeGeneres that, after Channing spent the night in her room, she left for set the next morning, as she had an earlier call time. As she sat getting her hair and makeup done, Jenna said she heard the P.A. stressing out because they couldn't find Channing. An embarrassed Jenna then had to call the P.A. over and tell them that Channing was in her room, not his. And because gossip travels fast, once Channing finally arrived on set, the crew gave him a round of applause for his hot hookup—and the pair have been together ever since.
