Why A Royal Expert Predicts Meghan Markle Will 'Never' Return To The UK
Meghan Markle has not returned to the UK since she and Prince Harry left in early 2020. Harry has been back to his home country twice in 2021, but he traveled solo both times. When Harry traveled to London for Prince Philip's funeral in April, People magazine reported that Meghan didn't get clearance from her doctor to travel; she was in her third trimester of pregnancy at the time. Harry made another trip to the UK in June for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother that took place on July 1. Meghan was unable to attend because she had just given birth to the couple's second child, a daughter they named Lilibet Diana, a couple of weeks earlier.
Royal watchers have been wondering when Meghan will return to the UK. According to the Daily Mail, Harry is supposedly going to be heading across the pond at some point in September for an event honoring Princess Diana. The outlet suggests that Meghan could make the trip with him — and there have been rumors that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will bring their children along, too, perhaps even christening baby Lili at Windsor, according to the Independent. If not then, Queen Elizabeth will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, and both Harry and Meghan have been invited, according to Page Six.
But is it possible that Meghan will actually never return to the UK? Keep reading to find out what one royal expert predicts.
Royal expert believes that Meghan Markle would receive a 'hostile reception' if she returned to the UK
It's no secret that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's decisions over the past year have caused tension between them and the royal family. Their choice to sit down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview was one of the most surprising of all, and is thought to have really deepened Harry's rift with Prince Charles and Prince William. Now that Harry has decided to write a memoir, it sounds like he's not on any sort of fast track to mend those relationships. Many feel that things are going to get worse before they get better — and one of those people is royal expert Phil Dampier.
Dampier told The Sun that he believes that Meghan is "responsible to some extent" for what's happened with the royal family, but admits that "Harry has to make his own decisions." He went on to say that "the general public in the UK is fed up with Harry and Meghan's witterings, and I get the impression people of all ages in the US are also tiring of their constant woke outbursts." Dampier doesn't think that Meghan will ever return to the UK, given everything that has happened. "I have said before that I don't think Meghan will ever return to the UK, as she would receive a hostile reception, and it's becoming harder for Harry too. It's a great shame but he has made his bed and must now lie in it," Dampier told the outlet.
