Untold Stories Of The ER Season 16 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far

(Think: one patient stuck in a toilet, whilst another one presents a boat cleat stuck in his head, per Screen Rant. All in a good day's work. PHEW.)

With a successful 15 seasons under its belt, we think it's pretty safe to say that TLC's "Untold Stories of the ER" is a fan-favorite among many! Per IMDb, the show first burst on to the scene in 2005 and quickly climbed its way up the ranks, amassing a whopping 275 episodes. So what's the deal on a 16th season? Can "Untold Stories of the ER" stans expect to watch more outlandish emergency room debacles? Keep reading after the jump to find out!

When does Season 16 of Untold Stories of the ER come out?

Per Premiere Date News, there is still no word yet as to when, or even if, a Season 16 of "Untold Stories of the ER" is happening. One might deduce, however, that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic could have something to do with the radio silence regarding another season. With many emergency rooms around the country being filled to the brim with coronavirus patients, it's quite possible ER physicians simply don't have time right now to dedicate to the show.

As reported by CNN, many emergency rooms are experiencing a "backlog" due to surging case numbers. "We may be using an ER room as an ICU, which then delays the person who comes to the emergency room with a broken arm, because you have to wait to get into a room to be seen," Dr. Maria Rappai of Jackson's Mississippi Baptist Medical Center explained about the all-too-common predicament emergency room professionals are facing. "It's a tough situation," she added.

One thing is for certain: Fans of the show want it back! "I love the shows, i miss them," one user zealously penned in the comments section on Premiere Date News.

What will the Season 16 cast look like?

While "Untold Stories of the ER" features various medical providers giving play-by-plays of their own emergency room war stories, fans of the show can almost surely expect that when and if a Season 16 is in the works, it will include long-time narrator of the show Armando Valdes-Kennedy. Per IMDb, though Valdes-Kennedy serves as a voice actor on the "Untold Stories of the ER," he's also worked as both a writer and director with credits in the short film "A-N-D-R-E-A."

Another mainstay on the show? A gamut of bad actors. It's not exactly a secret that the series often features terrible, horrible, no good, very bad actors. During one particular Reddit thread in which a user was lamenting the bad acting, another user tried to justify the reason for the lack of heavy-hitting actors. "All the stories are based on true events, but they get actors to reenact what happened. So you're not getting top notch acting since the focus is more on the medical stories being told," the user explained.

Does the Untold Stories of the ER deliver real storylines?

"Untold Stories of the ER" has often been criticized for featuring unbelievable predicaments the medical professionals find themselves in — but many of the show's participants are quick to rush to the show's defense, adamant that the show is about as real as it gets.

During an essay penned by Dr. Anthony Brutico (via In Touch Weekly), Brutico discussed his own experience with the show and insisted that the show was committed to staying true to the cases they feature. "After completing the interview, they turned my two-page case summary into a script for the show," he said. He did admit, however, that the powers that be revved up the theatrics in an effort to make the episodes more entertaining for a wide-ranging audience. "The process took roughly two weeks to finish, and I was mailed multiple versions of the script to check for medical appropriateness," he maintained. Perhaps the life of an ER doc really is just that crazy!

Here's to hoping for another wild, unbelievable Season 16 of "Untold Stories of the ER."
