The Real Reason Kellan Lutz Left FBI: Most Wanted
You may remember Kellan Lutz for his role as Emmett Cullen in the "Twilight" series, however, according to his IMDb page, he has more than a dozen credits to his name since those blockbuster films were released. In 2020, Lutz made his debut in "FBI," and ended up landing himself a role in "FBI: Most Wanted." He appeared as Special Agent Kenny Crosby in 30 episodes of the spinoff, the last of which aired on September 21. However, Lutz will not be returning to the series for another season. After two seasons on the hit CBS show, Lutz has decided not to renew his contract, according to the Daily Mail. The season ended with Lutz' character "fighting for his life in the hospital" after being shot. The implication, of course, is that Crosby might not make it.
Shortly after the show aired, Lutz took to Instagram to confirm that he would not be returning to "FBI." "Wow. What a night! And yes, you saw that correctly, Crosby won't be chasing down any bad guys for a little while," Lutz wrote in his post's caption. He went on to explain the reason that he made the decision to leave the show in the past. Read on to find out what Lutz had to say.
Kellan Lutz wants to spend more time with his family
In February 2020, Kellan Lutz and his wife, Brittany Lutz, shared the devastating news that they had lost their baby when Brittany was six months pregnant, according to People magazine. In an emotional Instagram post, Brittany revealed that she almost died, too. "My incredible doctor and the amazing team at UCLA Medical Center who kept me alive are the real MVPs. And to all of you who donate blood- I have never been more grateful for you. Without you people like me wouldn't be here," her caption read, in part. In February 2021, Kellan and Brittany welcomed their first child together — a healthy baby girl named Ashtyn – according to People magazine. The new addition, however, made Kellan rethink a lot of things in his life.
"[The year] 2020 was a lot for everyone to say the least. For me it started with losing my first daughter, then nearly my wife, and both grandfathers among other things, all in the middle of a global pandemic on the opposite side of the country from my family, friends, and entire support system," Kellan captioned his lengthy Instagram post on September 22. "If 2020 taught me anything it's how important family truly is. After a lot of prayer and reflection I made the difficult decision to move my growing family back to CA so our daughter could grow up with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, just a short drive away," he added.
Kellan Lutz teased some possible guest appearances on FBI
Kellan Lutz feels as though his decision to leave "FBI" to spend more time with his family is the right one for him at this time — but he isn't ruling out possible guest appearances on upcoming episodes. "I will miss the show, my costars, production, and most importantly my character Kenny Crosby, who is named after one of the grandfathers I lost earlier this year, but I have so much peace knowing I made the right decision for my family," his Instagram caption read. "I hope Crosby is able to pop in and out here and there in the future but for now..." he added.
It sounds like Kellan left the show on good terms as evidenced by a comment left by CBS TV. "We are going to miss you, [Kellan]. Thank you for bringing the character of Kenny Crosby to life," the Instagram comment read. The actor received dozens of supportive messages from colleagues and fans, as well, everyone wishing him well on his new journey. According to his IMDb page, Kellan already filmed "Come Out Fighting" which is slated for a 2022 release. He has nothing else lined up at this time.
