Are Lena Dunham And Allison Williams Friends?
No matter what happens, Lena Dunham and Allison Williams will always have a connection because of HBO's "Girls." The actors met and became friends in 2012 when they landed roles as BFFs Hannah and Marnie in what would eventually become one of the most important parts of their lives. Williams opened up about the first time she met her co-star, telling InStyle in 2014 (via Daily Mail), "I felt like I'd known her forever — it was weird."
The women said goodbye to the show and their beloved characters in 2016, each sharing emotional posts via Instagram. In Williams' message, she credited Dunham for giving her "everything." She explained, "She gave me the most incredible challenges and adventures and the opportunity to know and love our GIRLS family. She also gave me her fierce friendship, wit, love, and loyalty, all while making me giggle on a constant basis."
Years later, the question begs to be asked: Are Dunham and Williams still close friends? Scroll ahead to find out where they stand today.
Allison Williams was not part of Lena Dunham's wedding party
It's unclear if Lena Dunham and Allison Williams are still as close as they used to be, but the star and creator of "Girls" did not ask her former co-star to be part of her bridal party at her wedding to musician Luis Felber in September. It's also unknown if Williams was one of the 60 guests who watched the couple exchange vows in London. As Dunham explained to Vogue, "In terms of the bridal party, if we include siblings, we were nine. You can have a far bigger wedding with less bridesmaids, but I guess it just speaks to how excited I was to have my close friends there." Her bridesmaids included Taylor Swift and Tommy Dorfman.
The last time Williams spoke about her relationship with Dunham was back in 2018, two years after "Girls" wrapped. At the time, she had only good things to say about her friend and described their connection as "ying and yang." Williams added, "She's so sweet and good and I just love her. I'll always love her."
Allison Williams was there for Lena Dunham during a difficult time in her life
There's really no way to know exactly where Lena Dunham and Allison Williams really stand these days, but based on their close-knit bond, it would be surprising if they're not in each other's lives anymore. After all, Williams was by Dunham's side when she had her endometriosis surgery.
"Instead of sharing a pic of Allison as the inimitable Marnie I'm sharing this: from a hospital stay I had where Allison came and organized my entire room, fluffed my pillow, put roses everywhere, installed an Apple TV AND made sure I had a buttered bagel," the actor wrote in 2016 alongside a photo of Williams smiling while setting up a bouquet of flowers. "That's the most important thing to know about this woman. Yes she's gorgeous. Yes she's funny as f*ck. But you will never have a better friend and sister. We are so lucky. I love you, Al."
Dunham also called Williams "the most talented, hard-working, generous, tireless, self-deprecating and delicious smelling woman I have ever known." She added that working with someone with her "bravery, sense of adventure, and tenacity has made every day with her an honor." Truthfully, a connection like theirs certainly seems like it should last a lifetime.
