Red Table Talk Season 5 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far

While Facebook has had their fair share of controversies throughout the years, its foray into scripted and non-scripted programming has been one of the high points amid public turmoil. On the platform's Watch section, "Red Table Talk" — a show hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, daughter Willow Smith, and mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones — has become one of the world's most talked-about programming since its debut in March 2018.

On the show, the three generations of hosts invite Hollywood A-listers to join them in a round table discussion to discuss everything from relationship struggles to moral dilemmas to juicy gossip. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar after the first season of "Red Table Talk" dropped, Pinkett Smith described the series as promoting personal growth, saying, "We really try to deal with issues of the heart and issues of self-awareness and development. We really focus more on what's going on internally versus externally."

With millions of fans around the world, the demand for "Red Table Talk" is at an all-time high. Fans are eager for Pinkett Smith and her co-hosts to delve into deeper subject matters in the next season. Here's everything you need to know about Season 5.

When will 'Red Table Talk' Season 5 air?

The fourth season of "Red Table Talk" ended on October 6 and had 18 episodes, per IMDb. This means that the show will not return until Spring 2022, based on the release schedule of previous seasons. Seasons 1 and 2 began airing in May, whereas Seasons 3 and 4 started earlier in February and March. Therefore, fans waiting for Season 5 will have to make it through the holiday season before they get their fix of Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and Willow Smith.

Fans shouldn't be too disappointed about the wait though, as Pinkett Smith will have brand-new episodes streaming through 2022. The announcement was made after Facebook signed her to a renewal in January 2020, per Deadline. At the time, Pinkett Smith said she was proud of the impact "Red Table Talk" made on fans throughout the world.

"'Red Table Talk' has created a space to have open, honest and healing conversations around social and topical issues, and what's most powerful for me is hearing people's stories and engaging with our fans in such a tangible way on the Facebook Watch platform," the actor noted.

Who is in the cast of 'Red Table Talk' Season 5?

Considering that "Red Table Talk" has been made famous by Jada Pinkett Smith, her mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and her daughter, Willow Smith, it is expected that they'll all be back when the show returns in Spring 2022. However, like previous seasons, the guests aren't revealed until the episode airs, or when a celebrity announces they'll be on ahead of time.

Although guests on the upcoming season are being kept under wraps, the show will be sure to drum up publicity as they've done in the past. One of the most-watched and talked-about episodes of "Red Table Talk" was with Olivia Jade Giannulli in December 2020, where she defended herself about her parents' involvement in the college admissions scandal. Banfield-Jones had previously made it clear that she had no interest in inviting Giannulli, calling the influencer "the epitome of white privilege." But as we now know, the decision worked in their favor. Besides controversial guests, members of the Smith clan could also make appearances on the show, as they have in the past.

Per Deadline, "Red Table Talk" has also expanded into a franchise with Gloria Estefan hosting a spin-off with her niece and daughter. "I'm excited to see the Estefans put their spin on the franchise and take it to new places," Pinkett Smith said at the time.

What will 'Red Table Talk' focus on in Season 5?

Four seasons out, "Red Table Talk" has discussed topics ranging from the trappings of fame, body image, open marriages, mental health, and more. Season 5 will likely explore similar topics, but one aspect that remains unchanged will be celebrities' spilling secrets about their lives.

According to E!, celebrities have made "Red Table Talk" their first stop for confessions because they like that the show is without judgement. (Case in point: Jordyn Woods first spoke out about the Tristan Thompson scandal on the show; she's also been close with the Smith family for her whole life.) For her part, Pinkett Smith told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that hosting the show was a learning process for her too. "I've really been using this as the opportunity to be more vulnerable, be more open, put down the mask and so regarding things that hurt," she explained. " ... We just wanted to create a safe space."

It's safe to say the "safe space" Pinkett Smith referenced is why celebrities and viewers continue to support the show and will wait for its return in the upcoming months.
