How Many Grandchildren Does Keith Richards Have?

Keith Richards is someone who isn't particularly known for his private life. As a rocker, he's spent most of his career on the road, touring cities and countries from all over the world with The Rolling Stones. But as he has actually talked about fatherhood and the importance of family in several interviews, let's dive into the family he created.

According to his memoir, "Life," Keith Richards has five children with his ex-partners Anita Pallenberg and Patti Hansen, including his late daughter Tara, who died from sudden infant death syndrome at 2 months old. And while his job as one of the biggest rockers on the planet forced him to be on the road for at least half of his life, he still played a prominent role as a father at home. But just how many grandchildren does Richards have?

Keith Richards has a handful of grandkids

Keith Richards might seem like someone who has a larger-than-life personality, but he's also got a large family, too. Along with his adult children, he's also the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, he revealed on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." His son Marlon has three children, while his daughter Angela has two. While Richards has certainly seen a lot and done a lot, thanks to his immense popularity and celebrity status, he said that he's become more of a family man with age. As he told BBC's "Desert Island Discs," "I watch other people rebel now" — meaning he's no longer interested in those late nights with the band and the partying lifestyle.

In an interview with GQ, Richards also said that being a family man has certainly given him cool points. "I don't care how cool and hip and whatever you think you are," he said, "You get down the line, baby, what counts is family. This is what I did it for." while also admitting that kids don't need a perfect childhood to be happy. "It's amazing what kids can adapt to. It all comes out in the wash."

In a 2014 interview on  the musician revealed some details about his grandchildren. "One is 18 years old now and modeling here in New York and my youngest is six months old and happily crapping in his pants," he joked.

Keith Richards is that kind of grandfather who watches cartoons with the kids

In his interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Keith Richards admitted that he spends his downtime watching cartoons with his grandchildren. In fact, he's even written a children's book called "Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar." When the comedian said, "I can't picture you as a granddad. Do you sit down and watch 'Frozen' with the baby?" the Rolling Stones rocker quipped, "If you can't picture it, do you think I can?" before revealing that he does "different things" with each grandchild.

And while it seems like Richards still has some time ahead of him before he becomes a great-grandfather — like his pal Mick Jagger — he's certainly enjoying his life off stage. With that said, there aren't many people out there that can say their papa — er, grandpa — was a Rolling Stone, right?
