The Real Reason Jamie Foxx Will Never Get Married

Despite having his fair share of relationships over the years, Jamie Foxx has never actually tied the knot with anyone. The actor has dated the likes of Vivica Fox, Meagan Good, Eva Marcille, Christina Milian, Fantasia Barrino, and Stacey Dash, per WhosDatedWho. But still, his most talked about celebrity relationship ever is his with Katie Holmes.

As reported by Harper's Bazaar, Foxx and Holmes were first spotted together in 2013, one year after she separated from Tom Cruise. Over the years, the two tried their hardest to keep their relationship on the low, to the point were Holmes once "put on a wig and hat to meet him at a hotel" in Los Angeles in 2015, according to Us Weekly. In 2018, Foxx even hilariously walked out of an interview when asked about playing basketball with the former "Dawson's Creek" star.

Then, after years of dating in secret, Holmes and Foxx had their first official outing as a couple at the 2019 Met Gala. For the occasion, the two even color-coordinated their outfits; Holmes wore a purple dress, while Foxx wore a pair of matching violet shoes. The same year they finally debuted their relationship, however, the two broke things off. "They never had a typical relationship," a source told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "They have always been incredibly independent and their lives didn't revolve around each other." Three years after ending things with Holmes, the popular actor has now revealed why he will never get married.

Jamie Foxx doesn't think marriage is for him

Speaking with E! News' "Daily Pop" on October 18, Jamie Foxx spoke about why he never decided to jump the broom. As he explained, the "traditional" way of life wasn't really part of his plans. "The 2.5 children, the wood paneling on the station wagon and the cottage, I didn't think that was for me," Foxx told Erin Lin Rhodes.

The Oscar-winning actor, who has two daughters, also said that he didn't want to risk being stuck in an unhappy marriage for his kids' sake. "A lot of those marriages ended up not doing well as the kids got older," he explained. "Unfortunately, we saw the kids get fractured from their families." Do Foxx's daughters want him to get married at some point? Not really. "The pressure of being married, I don't think we can have a conversation about it," he said. "I just keep moving."

This isn't the first time that Foxx has discussed his views on marriage, either. In a September interview with Men's Health, the "Ray" star shared very similar sentiments as his recent E! appearance. "Some people can want to be married their whole lives, and then some people cannot want to be," he explained. "I just never thought marriage was for me. I used to tell some of my friends, 'You belong to the universe.'"
