Craftopia Season 3 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far
Forget baking banana bread! HBO Max's "Craftopia" first burst on to the scene in May 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. While many were left stuck at home desperately wondering how they could fill their days and keep their sanity in tact simultaneously, the brand new crafting competition series offered up a welcomed respite. "It's definitely been so inspiring to see how people are turning to creativity as a stress reliever and just something fun to do to take their minds off of the current situation," Youtube star and "Craftopia" host and executive producer LaurDIY told People.
According to HBO Max, the premise of the show is simple. In each episode, three "craftestants" compete in a series of "craft challenges" in an effort to impress the three judges and ultimately take home the highly coveted "craftrophia" and a $10,000 cash prize. Wait, where do we sign up?!
Alas, now that Season 2 of everyone's favorite crafting competition show is winding down, crafties everywhere are already wondering when they can get their next "Craftopia" fix.
When will Craftopia Season 3 drop?
Hang on to your crafting supplies, "Craftopia" stans! Per Premiere Date, Season 3 of the famous crafting competition series has yet to be renewed. But have no fear! Viewers in search of the same kind of escape from reality can look no further than "Craftopia's" spin-off series, "Baketopia."
HBO Max first announced the new series in March and the inaugural episode premiered in May. Shortly after HBO Max made the grand announcement about their new baking competition series, "Craftopia" star LaurDIY took to her Instagram account to relish in the good news. "Omg Craftopia has A SISTER SHOW!!! I am over the moon for @rosannapansino and how incredible Baketopia is," she penned in the celebratory post. "Cancel ur Saturday plans and go binge on @hbomax you will NOT regret it," she added along with two photos of herself and host of "Baketopia" Rosanna Pansino. So on second thought, maybe don't forget that banana bread after all.
What will the cast of Craftopia Season 3 look like?
Host and executive producer LaurDIY (born Lauren Riihimaki) is practically "Craftopia" personified, so in the event that a Season 3 is on the horizon it's probably safe to say she'll be front and center!
As reported by People, LaurDIY first got her start on YouTube wherein she became famous for her very own crafting skills. "I was always a big fan of making things unique and custom to me, and I started a blog in my first year of college when I realized the major I had chosen was not as creative as I had expected it to be," she explained during an interview with People. "I was kind of just doing both at the same time, trying to balance a full course load of finishing my major and also producing content every week in the DIY space. It really is what kept me sane throughout college." Still, LaurDIY is adamant that she had no idea just how many people would be interested in crafting. "It truly is incredible being able to connect with people all over the world that share a similar interest."
Shortly after the premiere of Craftopia LaurDIY suffered an unimaginable loss
Unfortunately, it hasn't been all rainbows and sunshine for Canadian YouTube star turned host and executive producer, LaurDIY.
On the heels of the May 27, 2020 premiere of "Craftopia" LaurDIY learned that her very first love Sebastian "Baz" Morris had tragically drowned after suffering a seizure during a midnight swim. In a vlog she titled, Rest In Peace," LaurDIY explained that Morris had been previously diagnosed with severe epilepsy and often suffered from seizures but was adamant that he never let the diagnosis define him. "We spent the last year of our relationship just as basically best friends. I have no regrets," she continued. "I was so focused on my career... and he needed to do all of the dangerous s–t that would give me near heart attacks when he would do it when we were together." She wrapped the vlog by letting her loyal viewers know that she would need some time to mourn Morris' death. "Nothing like this has ever happened to me and I don't know how to process it. I know that Baz wouldn't want me to miss a single day of life," she concluded.
