Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen Honor Prince With 'Purple Rain' Performance
The former SNL stars took to the Teragram Ballroom stage to honor the late icon.
TMZ reports that Maya Rudolph performed a number of Prince songs with her cover band, Princess—along with Fred Armisen on drums—on Thursday, June 8, 2017. Rudolph sang hits like "Purple Rain," "Darling Nikki," and "Nasty Girl." It was the final night of a series of back-to-back shows in Los Angeles thrown in remembrance of Prince. The legendary singer would have turned 59 years old on June 8.
It's been over a year since Prince was found dead on April 21, 2016, in his Paisley Park home. He was 57 years old. In early June 2016, the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Prince passed as a result of an opiate overdose.
