Naked And Afraid Of Love Season 2 Release Date, Cast, And More Information

There are no shortages of dating reality competition shows on television, ranging from "The Bachelor" to "Temptation Island" to "Too Hot To Handle," but Discovery's "Naked and Afraid of Love" has got to take the cake for the most unique — and bizarre —concept audiences have ever seen. The show, which premiered on Discovery+ in August 2021, follows contestants as they attempt to survive the harsh conditions of the wild while naked — and simultaneously try to find love with a stranger. If the premise sounds similar, it's because the show is a spinoff of Discovery's "Naked and Afraid," but with a dating element.

Now, dating naked is not a new concept, as "Dating Naked" aroused viewers when it first premiered on VH1 in 2014. Unfortunately, the show was canceled after three seasons because production forgot to censor a contestant's private area, which led to advertisers dropping, according to Entertainment Weekly. A reboot was announced earlier this year, but it seems like "Naked and Afraid of Love" has taken over the mantle for the meantime. Here's everything we know so far about Season 2 of "Naked and Afraid of Love."

What is the release date for Naked and Afraid of Love Season 2?

Unlike many other reality shows who anxiously wait for network renewals, Discovery had already announced that "Naked and Afraid of Love" would be back for a second season in September 2021, per Deadline. As mentioned previously, the first season premiered in August 2021 and ended that November. However, Discovery hasn't yet announced a release date for the second season of the survivalist dating show.

"We are thrilled to see audiences coming to discovery+ for 'Naked and Afraid of Love,'" Nancy Daniels, the chief brand officer of Discovery and Factual, said in a press release. She also voiced her satisfaction over the series translating to a streaming audience. "... we were excited to explore and lean into what Naked and Afraid could be specifically on discovery+ and it is gratifying to see the creative and strategy payoff." She continued, "This is where it gets fun, finding creative ways to fuel both of our streaming and linear businesses, and the team is excited to see what else is possible."

While Season 1 of the show took place in the Philippines, there has been no confirmation about where the show will take place in Season 2.

Who is in the cast of Naked and Afraid of Love Season 2?

As of writing, cast members set to appear in Season 2 of "Naked and Afraid of Love" have not been announced. Season 1 of the show featured eight single men and eight single women trying to find love in the wilderness, as noted by a press release by the Discovery channel. The contestants split into eight couples and were released into the wild, but got into some heated catfights and brawls after getting involved in multiple love triangles. Contestants on the show included a former pageant queen, a soccer coach, a life coach, and a video game developer, according to Discovery+'s profiles.

Though the show's objective is for contestants to find love, some walked away with life-long friendships, like Bennett Murphy. The soccer coach posted about his experience on Instagram. "I was thrown into the pacific wilderness with 15 strangers," he wrote, "they were the most incredible people, we had so many crazy adventures, felt every emotion on spectrum: joy, pain, anger, love, and get this ... we were all naked!"

We're sure that the next crop of cast members will have just as much fun as Murphy did, but not all contestants enjoyed their post-show relationships.

One couple did not have a happy ending

Though reality dating shows often present a fairy-tale-like happy ending, it's often not the case after the show ends. Jay and Cassalei's relationship on Season 1 "Naked and Afraid" was no exception. The two had struggled with their relationship during the finale because Cassalei expressed doubts that her family would accept Jay for his "open" personality, according to E! News. Jay also admitted that he wasn't sure if his mom would accept Cassalei because of her race and the fact that she has a child. The pair eventually decided that they'd take a shot at their relationship after the show was over, but the good times did not last. Jay ghosted Cassalei immediately after the cameras stopped rolling.

In a lengthy Instagram post from November 2021, Cassalei explained what went wrong with their week-long courtship. "He stopped showing me attention, even before the flight home, our hotel rooms were right next to each other and he didn't talk to me at all," she captioned the Instagram post. "Everyone who was with us can attest that he did NOT act like we were together at any point in LA or Nashville, he had been asked to be more attentive to me by our friends, and instead left me blacked out drunk and phoneless so he could dance with and exchange instagrams with other girls." Yikes!

Let's hope contestants on Season 2 will take their relationships more seriously.
