Nick Cannon To Host Lip Sync Battle Spinoff
Looks like the former America's Got Talent host has another gig all lined up.
Variety reports that Nick Cannon is slated to host Lip Sync Battle Shorties, a spinoff of Lip Sync Battle featuring children, on Nickelodeon. Social media star JoJo Siwa, 14, will reportedly serve as Cannon's sidekick—the Chrissy Teigen to Cannon's LL Cool J, if you will.
And Cannon's already pumped for the new show. "I'm excited to host the first season of 'Lip Sync Battle Shorties,'" the 36-year-old said in a statement obtained by Variety. "It's always a pleasure to work with my family at Nickelodeon. It's going to be a lot of fun watching the kids lip-sync their favorite songs and perform like their favorites artists."
Cannon's latest gig will mark his return to Nickelodeon, where he'd previously starred on All That and The Nick Cannon Show—though he's been involved with the network for quite some time. He's served as the Chairman Of TeenNick since 2009.
Executive producers Casey Patterson and Jay Peterson are also pretty psyched to have Cannon back on the Nickelodeon network. "Nick Cannon grew up on Nickelodeon and into one of the best hosts and comedic actors on TV. Along with his passion for music, he brings with him such an amazing understanding and enthusiasm for kid performers," they said in a statement. "We feel very lucky to have Nick at the helm of 'Shorties.' We're ready to rock!"

Lip Sync Battle Shorties' first season will be comprised of just 10 episodes and will reportedly feature everyday kids mouthing along to their favorite songs. The show will also boast the Shorties Dance Crew—a 10-person backup dance group—to perform alongside contestants. And, of course, it wouldn't have the same Lip Sync Battle experience unless there was some star power. Variety reports that a celebrity guest will appear in every single episode.
The new show is set to premiere in 2018.
