The Truth About LeBron James' Kids

Being related to one of the NBA's greatest athletes of all time may cause some family members to shy away from the spotlight, but LeBron James' trio of talented, fashionable, and dynamic children – Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri — are far from leading a low-profile life. It's also evident that the kids, whom James shares with his wife Savannah, are the most important part of his life.

As a child of a single mother, James vowed to end that cycle by being ever-present in his kids' lives. "I wanted to be a part of the statistics that breaks the mode of fathers running out on their kids," James told Cleveland.com. "That was something that I obviously went through and I knew from Day 1 that wasn't going to be me. So, to have a family and be there for them and be there on a day-to-day basis is important. I know I travel a lot but I'm a staple in the household and it means a lot to me and I know it means a lot to my kids."

While some celebs keep their kids out of the spotlight, James' children regularly appear on his social media pages. And within the five-member family, whom the Lakers legend often refers to with the hashtag #JamesGang, each child has their own niche and is working hard to follow in their father's footsteps to success.

LeBron James' eldest son Bronny plays basketball too

At the time of this writing, Bronny James is a student in his third year at Sierra Canyon, a Los Angeles private school where he plays basketball for the Trailblazers. Although he hasn't made sports headlines as frequently as his all-star father did as a teenager, Bronny is a notable player ranked 34th in the country and fourth in the state of California by the 247Sports Composite Rating system.

Along with mirroring LeBron James in many ways, Bronny's style on the court is another reason he's prospected so favorably as a recruit. "'Plays the right way' will be written on every Bronny James scouting report," Bleacher Report said. "His identity revolves around connective skills and traits, starting with his unselfish passing and high basketball IQ." Standing at 6 feet 3 inches in height and weighing 190 pounds, Bronny hopes to be recruited to play in college. According to 247Sports, a few of the colleges quietly scouting the teen include "Duke, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Texas."

In addition to basketball, Bronny enjoys video games, hanging with his friends, and posting on TikTok and Instagram, on which he has 5.4 million followers and 6.1 million followers, respectively.

Bronny James is a big name in the gaming industry

In 2021, Bronny James' love of video games became much more than just a hobby. As explained in SI, it earned him a deal with FaZe Clan, a worldwide gaming organization powered by creative content and influential partners, who are basically "an amorphous digital squad that has become the internet's version of the cool kids' table in your high school cafeteria."

Though there isn't an official contract between FaZe Clan and Bronny, and he isn't accepting any money for the deal in order to remain eligible for NCAA college recruiting, the relationship has earned him a prominent spot in gaming culture and enabled him to expand his personal brand for the future. According to The Washington Post, after being featured as part of FaZe Clan, Bronny's Twitch account views exploded 855 percent the next day.

Bronny's affiliation with the gaming company is surely coveted by many teenagers, but another proximity to cool companies includes his Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball team's sponsorship by Flight Club. For the 2019 season, the rare sneaker consignment company signed on to design the jerseys, sneakers, hoodies, towels, and duffel bags for Bronny's team, the North Coast Blue Chips, as stated by ESPN. When you're the son of LeBron James, access to the best brands in athleticwear seems like just one of the many perks.

A Bronny James dunk video went viral

Though the sneakers and notoriety for playing video games help sweeten the excitement of playing such high-profile basketball for one's high school years, Bronny James keeps his priorities straight in order to work hard on his game. After years of practice, Bronny perfected his dunk, and the video of the masterful move that LeBron James posted to Instagram in November 2021 went viral, earning more than 2.5 million likes. Various celebrity athletes' excited comments came rolling in, such as Dwyane Wade's "Sheesh" and Stephen Curry's "Say what now?" as told by The Spun.

In addition to his dad being his basketball inspiration, Bronny has many others to look up to in the league. In fact, per Athlon Sports, Bronny's godfather is Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul. In a Twitter video reposted by Bleacher Report, when asked to list his top five NBA players, besides his father, Bronny named Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, and Kevin Durant.

LeBron James hopes to play on an NBA team with his eldest son

Ahead of Bronny James graduating high school, LeBron James made it clear that in 2024, he would like to play his final year in the NBA alongside his son. "Wherever Bronny is at, that's where I'll be," James stated to The Athletic during the 2022 All-Star Weekend. "I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It's not about the money at that point."

Seeing the two play side-by-side would be a defining moment in the history of the NBA, and yet, LeBron does realize the need for his son to pave his own way. "I still regret giving my 14-year-old my name," he said on the HBO series "The Shop." "When I was younger, obviously, I didn't have a dad. So my whole thing was, whenever I have a kid, not only is he gonna be a junior, I'm gonna do everything that this man didn't do." However, he learned that all he could do is give his kids "the blueprint," leaving the rest up to them.

When asked about Bronny's basketball potential versus his four-time MVP father, basketball legend Magic Johnson suggested to TMZ Sports that Bronny could, at the very least, match LeBron's success. "Normally what happens is sometimes with all that skill and talent that LeBron has, it passes to the son," Johnson said. "I think that he has a chance to be unbelievable and either just as good as his dad or a little better." Only time will tell if he's right.

LeBron James' second son shines just as bright as his older brother

Being a middle child isn't always easy, but LeBron James' son Bryce makes it look like a piece of cake. While only a freshman in high school at Sierra Canyon, the same Los Angeles private school as his brother, at the time of this writing, Bryce has shown great promise in the basketball world. One of the most talked-about moments of Bryce's youth basketball career so far came in December 2021 when the young James scored his first-ever dunk, captured in this video by Ballislife. It proved that despite the couple-year age difference, he isn't far behind his big brother in the talent department.

According to 247Sports, the youngster has some serious finesse. "Bryce does seem to be comfortable from long distance as he can be seen draining jumpers from behind the arc with relative ease." As shown in his brother's Instagram story, captured and reposted by a ClutchPoints writer, Bryce is catching up quickly to Bronny's height as well.

Bryce James' basketball potential is often compared to his brother and father

With LeBron James as a father and an older brother who's a potential pick for the 2024 NBA draft, it's no surprise that Bryce James hasn't stolen the spotlight ... yet. Though Bronny is the eldest, there's been chatter for years that Bryce's success could one day surpass both his father and brother. Take for example this tweet by Cuffs The Legend, an NBA analyst/insider and friend of James: "Bryce Maximus is the one everybody is sleeping on."

Even LeBron asserts that Bryce is the main contender in the family of ballers. "The best shooter in this household for sure!" he remarked on Twitter in response to a highlight reel posted by SLAM in 2018. Beyond just the James family comparisons, a number of YouTubers also suggested Bryce's talent may one day mirror that of NBA superstar Kevin Durant after watching a later highlight reel filmed in 2021. "He will be like a KD-ish type of player with great court vision and passing ability," predicted one commenter. While only in his early years of high school at the time of this writing, it'll be interesting to see how the future unfolds for this athletic middle child.

Along with Bryce James' swag on the court, he's got skills on TikTok

When he's not being compared to NBA legends and practicing layups for his high school team, Bryce James enjoys posting on TikTok for his 1.1 million followers. He also has an Instagram account with 569K followers. He dances to a variety of hip-hop songs, sometimes the same ones over and over, but such is the life of a teenager. His videos occasionally involve his friends, siblings, mom, and even his world-famous father. Bryce posted frequently during quarantine, including this clip of the entire James family getting down to Drake's "Toosie Slide," which garnered 2.6 million views.

Beyond dancing, Bryce is also known for his hilarious sense of humor. This clip, originally captured from Savannah James' Instagram story and reposted later by Bleacher Report, depicts Bryce perfectly impersonating his father, sending his mom and brother into hysterics.

Though his bubbly personality translates well through his videos, his mom's adorable Instagram birthday post sums Bryce up best: "Keep growing into the super smart, funny, dancing machine you are young king!!"

As the youngest sibling, Zhuri James is small but mighty

While it's hard to believe anyone could shine brighter than two teenage boys destined for legendary greatness in the world of basketball, little sister Zhuri James gives her brothers a run for their money. Along with having a wicked cute smile, this young lady has her own Instagram page, which states that it's "managed by mom + dad," as well as a YouTube channel, on which she uploads (assumingly with help) content about "cuteness, recipes, DIY, activities, family adventures, pranks, tutorials and more!" She hasn't posted in over a year at the time of this writing, but perhaps life is a little busier now that she's no longer in preschool.

Besides her social channels, Zhuri makes constant cameos on her family's pages. Whether she's working out with LeBron James as seen on his Instagram, dancing with Bronny on his TikTok, or busting her own moves on Bryce's TikTok, she makes her presence known. Mom Savannah's Instagram birthday post to Zhuri described her as "[the] most dynamic, intelligent, charismatic and loving young woman."

Beyond being cute, the littlest James has talent

While surely Zhuri James' sweet face helped her earn a brand ambassador role for a child's clothing company called Janie and Jack in 2021, it was her personality that leveled up the partnership. To start, Janie and Jack partnered with Disney to create The Ultimate Princess collection, the campaign for which aimed to show "that every child can be a princess when they embody the various attributes of a Disney Princess, such as courage, kindness, determination, and celebrating differences," as stated by Disney Fashionista. Zhuri can be seen modeling the collection's dresses on her Instagram.

Following this opportunity, she was asked to host the Janie and Jack x Harlem Row Fashion Show, a collaboration that featured multicultural clothing designs for kids. According to People, mom Savannah James helped Zhuri rehearse. In this YouTube video of the virtual launch party, viewers see Zhuri open the event, interview designers, and close out the show — during all of which, she displayed sweet charm and mature stage presence. Her follow-up Instagram post captures her donning clothing from the designers featured during the event.

From event host to dance star, Zhuri James does it all

When she's not flexing in the world of fashion, Zhuri James enjoys dancing — and the girl's got some serious moves. James took gymnastics when she was little, according to USA Today Sports, and now she's into dancing. At the end of her sessions with her private dance instructor Candice, Zhuri enjoys freestyling to music by anybody from Adele to Cardi B, whose song "Up" inspired this sassy routine video, which dad LeBron James posted to his Instagram with the caption, "Yeah it's officially over for me guys!! I feel bad for whomever my Baby Z decides to bring home first!"

The video went viral and received 9.3 million views on his page. Cardi B even reposted it on her own Instagram, on which it received 11.4 million views, and included the caption, "How is she soo good at this? This is soo dope. Yes! Yes we all see cuteness but bayybee I see a future superstar. Sooo adorable! I'm maaa hype lols." James clearly has a magnetic, cool vibe, echoed by Essence, which stated it perfectly with its praise-filled article title, "Zhuri James Is Black Girl Magic."

Zhuri James is a true daddy's girl

Of all the ways Zhuri James steals the spotlight, her most captive audience is by far her father. LeBron James dotes on his daughter with genuine affection and amusement at everything she does, whether it's shooting hoops in her pajamas as seen in a video posted on LeBron's Instagram Story and later shared by WKYC, baking treats on her YouTube channel, or just putting their feet up and kicking back at home, like in one of his wife's Instagram posts (pun intended). "When you can just do whatever because you're the baby and Daddy's princess," Savannah James' caption reads.

Even when in public, LeBron doesn't shy away from expressing his love for his daughter and the rest of his family. At the premiere for "Space Jam: A New Legacy," in which LeBron stars as a fictional version of himself, he was asked by Access Hollywood how his daughter felt about his movie role. He replied, "My daughter is the greatest thing in my life, along with my boys. So, whenever she smiles, it don't matter what I'm doing — It makes me happy." Based on this ESPN tweet showing LeBron on a mid-game "mission" to find his daughter candy, it's clear he'll stop at nothing to get that smile.

LeBron James and his wife Savannah are raising a fabulous trio of kids

Although LeBron James has a soft spot for his daughter, it's for all three children that James truly goes the distance. Whether he's mentoring his sons on the court, praising his daughter on a dance performance, or even showing his support for Bronny James' line of underwear with PSD, James makes sure to be as present as possible despite his busy schedule.

In an August 2021 Instagram post, James explained what it meant to him to be a father. "For me, being a dad, it's the ultimate ... to see my kids continue to grow into their own every single day. Ever since I was a kid, I was like, 'I can't wait to be a dad someday, and be able to lead and to guide.'" For this beautiful family of five, the bond runs deep, and in the #JamesGang, there's plenty of room for multiple superstars.
