Zendaya Refutes Tom Holland Dating Rumors

Zendaya has swiftly put an end to those lingering dating rumors.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming star shut down any claims that she and her co-star Tom Holland were an item at Variety's Power of Young Hollywood event on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017.

"It happens all the time, and of course we expected it," Zendaya told Entertainment Tonight at the event. "I mean, it comes with the territory. It comes with the job, so it's all good."

But as the Disney star revealed, dating in Hollywood is, "of course," difficult. "It's hard to date at any age. It doesn't matter where you are, either," she explained. "It's just hard to date in general, you know? Sometimes it's hard to find people that you really click with or really understand you, and add on top of that the fact that my lifestyle is very different, so it's tough, but I'm chillin'."

And while she and Holland have certainly formed a close bond, the K.C. Undercover actress revealed in Variety's Young Hollywood issue, "We are friends."

She went on, "He's a great dude. He's literally one of my best friends. This past how many months we've had to do press tours together. There's very few people that will understand what that's like at 20 years old."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Zendaya, 20, and Holland, 21, were first linked in mid-July 2017. According to an E! News source, "They got to know each other while on set. They became friends and started getting romantic a few months ago." Meanwhile, an insider told People, "They've been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they've gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another."

The Marvel stars later poked fun at the rumors on Twitter. Linking to a Teen article suspecting their blossoming romance, Zendaya wrote, "Wait wait...my favorite is when it says we go on vacations together HA! I haven't been on a vacation in years! hbu @TomHolland1996 ???"

To which Holland quipped, "Does the press tour count?"
