I Love A Mama's Boy Season 3 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far

Just when you think you've seen there is all to see in the reality show genre, TLC manages to come up with another guilty pleasure in "I Love a Mama's Boy." The reality series follows four couples who are trying to make their relationship work with a meddling mother, who becomes a third wheel, in everything they do.

In a 2020 press release, TLC's President Howard Lee said the network is "always spicing up our relationship series to surprise and delight our fans," and the series features "outrageous family dynamics and culture clashes to jaw-dropping mother-son rituals."

Unsurprisingly, "I Love a Mama's Boy" has become one of TLC's most popular shows to date. Per IMDb, the first season premiered in November 2020, whereas the second season finished in August 2021. As it's been over six months since we've heard anything about the show, fans are eagerly waiting to know if the show has been renewed for a third season. Here's everything we can tell them so far.

When will I Love a Mama's Boy Season 3 be released?

Fans better get ready for some more mama drama, as TLC has renewed "I Love a Mama's Boy" for a third season. Deadline reported that the order was made in November 2021, along with two other renewals, because of how popular the series are with viewers.

"Each of these returning series deliver fresh twists on family and relationship programming," TLC's President Howard Lee said in a statement. "Sometimes, loving someone can go a little too far, and these docuseries offer a front-row seat along with a zany combination of heart, comedy, excitement and even suspense." TLC also said that the show averaged 1.45 million viewers in its second season, which easily justified the renewal.

As for when fans can expect to see the show return to their television screens, Premiere Dates noted that TLC has set a release date for June 19. A summer premiere certainly deviates from previous seasons that have all been fall or winter releases, but perhaps the network couldn't wait any longer, given the fan response and longing. However, the release date might not be the only thing different about the show in Season 3.

Who is cast in I Love a Mama's Boy Season 3?

As mentioned in the opening, "I Love a Mama's Boy" follows four couples as they navigate their relationships with overbearing and needy mothers. Much like TLC's other hit show "90 Day Fiance," the cast rotates out depending on what happens during the season. Per Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Season 2 featured three couples from the first season: Emily, Shekeb, and his mom Laila; Stephanie, Mike, and his mom Liz; and Kim, Matt, and his mom Kelly, while the new cast members were: Tia, Theous, and his mom Carolyn; and Tracy, Bryan, and his mom Jayne.

TLC hasn't announced who will return for Season 3, but Kim is most likely done with the show after she and Matt broke up in the Season 2 finale. Per The Cinemaholic, Kim was surprised how close Matt was to his mom and broke things off with him after he refused to leave his mom to join her in another state for a new job.

Kim later revealed in an interview with "The Sarah Fraser Show" that she is no longer engaged to Matt and has no plans to reconcile with him. "I don't really foresee [getting back together with Matt]," she said. "I need to recognize my self-worth. There are men out there who aren't like this."

It's not always all love between moms and sons on I Love a Mama's Boy

While Kim had taken issue with how close Matt is with his mother (he literally put a rose in her hair as Kim looked on during their wedding fitting), not all of the men on "I Love a Mama's Boy" are afraid of confronting their mother. Case in point: Jason from Season 1. Jason and Justina were the only ones engaged at the start of the show and had to work through communication issues with his mom, Annette.

Annette wanted to intervene in their wedding arrangements, telling the "Tamron Hall" show that she wanted Jason to have "a fair say in the wedding planning." But Jason firmly drew the line with his mother after she wanted to intervene in their parenting of their 2-year-old daughter. "That has definitely become a strain in our relationship," Jason told host Tamron Hall.

Although Annette was disappointed about her son's attitude, she also had to accept his decision. May viewers see more boundaries being set in the upcoming season.
