Sinead O'Connor To Appear On Dr. Phil
The Irish singer is headed to the small screen for an exclusive interview with Dr. Phil McGraw.
Billboard reports that Sinéad O'Connor is scheduled to appear on Dr. Phil on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, following her public outcry for help in August.
"I'm so grateful and very happy, very excited to be getting some proper help," the 50-year-old said in a clip of the high-profile interview, posted on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017.
Discussing her relationship with her mother, O'Connor said, "Every day of our lives, she ran a torture chamber," adding, "She was a person who would delight and smile in torturing you."
The "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer also talked about mental health, stating, "The fact that there's such stigma about mental illness means that the illness doesn't get talked about."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, O'Connor hasn't had an easy past few months. On Aug. 7, she shared a video on Facebook, revealing that she suffers from three mental illnesses and has felt suicidal. She also accused her family of abandoning her in her time of need.
"Suddenly, all the people who are supposed to be loving you or taking care of you treat you like s***," O'Connor said at the time. "If it was me, I'd be gone, straight away back to my mom."
