Miley Cyrus' Ex Cody Simpson Has A Surprising New Career

If the name Cody Simpson sounds familiar, chances are you know him for two reasons. First, he is an Australian pop star, boasting multiple nominations and awards, per IMDb. Second, he dated Miley Cyrus. Yes, that Miley Cyrus. Cyrus and Simpson first made headlines in October 2019 after TMZ shared a video of them in a hot make-out session at Backyard Bowls in Los Angeles. A few weeks later, Simpson confirmed that he was indeed dating the "Wrecking Ball" star. "We are very, very happy," he said, per People. "We just have a ball, and that's the most important part of a relationship, you know?"

For some time, it sure seemed like this was a love story written in the stars. But there were also a few strange things about Simpson and Cyrus' relationship – including the super-quick speed of moving in together and getting tattoos. In August 2020, after 10 months, Cyrus and Simpson broke up. "Today it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up," Cyrus confirmed in a video. "Like everybody else at this age, we're just deciding who we want to be with our lives, what we want to do with our lives."

Well, say no more, because it didn't take Simpson too long — the singer has a new career and you just might be surprised!

Cody Simpson's swimming accomplishments are a 'dream come true'

Cody Simpson takes the Commonwealth! Per Daily Mail, Simpson has qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where over 70 countries are expected to battle it out. The pop star participated in the 100-meter butterfly competition at the Australian Swimming Championships — finishing third behind two Olympians, according to TMZ.

"That's a dream come true," Simpson said (via The Guardian). "I had a great swim this morning, so much progress from last year. I had no idea it was going to happen this meet so I'm through the roof." The singer also explained that he did not expect to perform this well, given that he resumed training only a little over two years ago.

Of course, if you have followed Simpson's journey through the years, this might not come as a huge shock to you. Per Olympics.com, the singer was born to swimmer parents and developed a knack for swimming early in life, becoming a National Age Group Champion at 12. However, he took a hiatus from the sport. Now, Simpson is back and ready to take over the sports scene.
