Cole Sprouse and his "Riverdale" co-star Lili Reinhart had a showmance, making their on-screen romance a real-life one as well. The relationship was first hinted at in 2017 when Sprouse, who gained his fame from the Disney comedy "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody," shared a photo on Instagram of Reinhart in a field of flowers. Shortly after, it was revealed by People that the two were seen getting close and cozy while they were at Entertainment Weekly's Comic-Con Bash.
After nearly three years of dating and posting cute Instagram photos on each other's pages, the "Riverdale" actors broke up. At first, it was speculated to just be a temporary separation as the COVID-19 pandemic halted production for the show. "Lili and Cole were in a good place when Riverdale was shut down due to the Coronavirus outbreak, but they isolated separately and distance has never been a good thing for their relationship," a source reported to E! News.
It was also said that the pair would most likely rekindle their relationship when filming starts again. However, as fans now know, that was not the case.

He stated that he and Reinhart had actually split in January, but they made it permanent in March. "What an incredible experience I had, I'll always feel lucky and cherish that I had the chance to fall in love," Sprouse said about the relationship, assuring fans that they were willing to stay friends. "I wish her nothing but the utmost love and happiness moving forward."
Sprouse said that he felt "forced" to say something about the split due to the public demand of wanting a confirmation, per GQ. He also said that his relationship with Reinhart was "as real as it gets." As a fairly private person himself, the stark tone in his Instagram caption clearly let people know that he didn't want to answer any questions about the breakup.
Fans still didn't like the fact that their favorite couple broke up, as they even went as far as starting to report Instagram posts of him and his new girlfriend, Ari Fournier, per Cosmopolitan. However, it didn't seem to faze Sprouse, who later reportedly shared more pics of Fournier with the caption, "Time to piss off the 14yos again."

This also means that the exes may be friendly enough to work together.
