Her beau, on the other hand, is the lead singer/songwriter for the Alternative Pop band Coldplay. Together, they are quite the power couple that has been going strong for years.
Prior to getting together, the doting couple had quite the roster of past loves. Johnson dated Matthew Hitt, whereas Martin was linked to Gwyneth Paltrow prior to meeting the "Fifty Shades" star in 2017. It would appear, though, that nothing tops Martin and Johnson's undeniable bond.

According to E! News, Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin met through mutual friends! Since the introduction, the pair opted to take it a step further and were initially spotted in 2017 on a sushi date together in Los Angeles. They were "cozy, laughing and affectionate," a source told People. Since their dinner date, the rest has been history as the pair have been inseparable.
"We've been together for quite a while," Johnson told Elle UK of their romance in 2021. "And we go out sometimes but we both work so much that it's nice to be at home and be cozy and private. Most of the partying takes place inside my house."
Their relationship certainly has the seal of approval from Dakota's dad, Don Johnson. In a previous interview with Fox 5 New York, Don spoke about whether or not the pair will get married, saying, "Listen, if she's happy, I will be happy, and he's a lovely guy. And if she decides to get married, I would imagine that there would be grandchildren not too far out for that. I'd be pretty excited about that part." That's not all! Her mother also approves of their tight-lipped relationship. Her mother, Melanie Griffith, gushed to People 2019, "I love my daughter's boyfriend. I think that they're an awesome couple."
They keep it all in the family
Although Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin keep their relationship private, the pair has given fans a glimpse into their relationship. From their romantic getaway to Mallorca, Spain in July 2021 to spending time at Martin's lavish $12.5 million Malibu home (per E! News), the low-key pair adore spending time together.
Besides their romantic escapes and spending time with just each other, the couple also spend time with his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, and her husband, Brad Falchuk. The Goop Founder and Martin share two children, Apple and Moses Martin, and manage to keep an excellent co-parenting relationship since their split. The exes take it one step further as they're genuinely friends and are supportive of their respective partners. While many may think Johnson and Martin's relationship is unconventional, it works for them!
Paltrow previously stated that she supports his relationship with Johnson adding that she adds more love to their family. "I love her," Paltrow told Harper's Bazaar in January 2020 while speaking about Johnson. "I can see how it would seem weird because it's sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her."
