Gwen Stefani Talks Sexiest Man Alive Blake Shelton: 'I Really Scored'

The "Hollaback Girl" singer knows she has it good.

In an interview with Access Hollywood published on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, Gwen Stefani reacted to rumors that her boyfriend, country crooner Blake Shelton, was to be named People's Sexiest Man Alive.

"Oh my god. Well, wow. They got that right," Stefani, 48, said, regarding people's suspicions about the popular The Voice coach. "Wow. I knew I was on to something!"

When asked about how she'd react if Shelton did indeed snag the title, Stefani, who's been dating Shelton since late 2015, responded, "I'm gonna look really good, huh?" She added, "I already had scored, but now I really scored."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, rumors about Shelton's new People magazine designation turned out to be true, as the 41-year-old was announced to be the Sexiest Man Alive in the evening of Nov. 14, hours after Stefani's interview.

The silly person that he is, Shelton joked about his big win. When asked what he'd thought upon hearing the big news, Shelton quipped, "That y'all must be running out of people." He continued, "Like, Wow, we're down to somebody who is somewhat symmetrical."

Shelton also revealed that he'd agreed to accept the honor at Stefani's encouragement. He explained, "She goes, 'Listen to me, you're going to regret this for the rest of your life if you don't take this gift and just live in the moment.'"

Stefani later told People that Shelton was the "perfect" choice for the magazine. "He's perfect for it," the former No Doubt frontman said. "Somebody that is funny and has a sense of humor is sexy — that's the No. 1 thing." She went on, "[He's] somebody that is at the top of their game and talented and genuine and cool and generous and just not self-aware at all — completely a man."

Stefani later tweeted, "I guess I've been kissing the #sexiestmanalive all this time but @people I knew that allready!!"
