Seth Meyers To Host 2018 Golden Globes

The Late Night with Seth Meyers host has a major gig coming up.

On Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that Seth Meyers will host the upcoming 2018 Golden Globes. "The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is excited to have Seth Meyers host the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards," HFPA President Meher Tatna released in a statement. "With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognizing the best in television and film at the Party of the Year."

Meyers, 43, will take over the reigns as emcee from last year's host and fellow Saturday Night Live alum, Jimmy Fallon. Apart from his current late night gig, the writer-comedian's impressive hosting experience includes the 2014 Emmys and the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner.

Following the announcement, Mike Shoemaker, a writer and producer for Late Night with Seth Meyers, took to Twitter with a throwback pic. "Yes, it is official that we are returning to the Golden Globes," he captioned a behind-the-scenes snapshot of himself with Meyers sitting behind a table full of Golden Globe awards. "#TBT to when we were there with Tina and Amy and we put nanny cams in all these," he joked, in reference to the duo previously writing for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's joint hosting gigs in 2013 and 2015.

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Simone Garcia Johnson, daughter of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, was recently named the first-ever Golden Globe Ambassador. In this role, the 16-year-old will assist in handing out awards to the night's winners, as well as work with GlobalGirl Media, an organization that aims to develop the "voice and media literacy of teenage girls and young women" in disadvantaged areas.

The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live from Beverly Hills on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at 8 p.m. EST on NBC, with nominations announced on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017. While we wait for the upcoming awards show to air, read up on the craziest moments at last year's ceremony.
