Katherine Heigl's Brother-In-Law Is A Famous Country Star

Katherine Heigl has gained recognition for her comedic charm and effortless allure in raunchy romantic comedies such as "Knocked Up" and "The Ugly Truth." But the actor is also known for her relationship to singer-songwriter Josh Kelley. The happy couple married in 2007 and share three kids together — Nancy, Adalaide, and Joshua. Some fans may be surprised to learn that Josh's brother is a solo artist and the lead singer of Lady A (formerly Lady Antebellum), a multi-Grammy award winning country group made of Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood.

Though Charles and Heigl haven't spoken much publicly about one another, Charles did once stand up for his sister-in-law when questioned about her reputation. According to BuzzFeed News, Heigl's reputation in Hollywood has been pinpointed as "difficult" and "unprofessional." In a 2016 appearance on "Watch What Happens Live" (via Just Jared), Charles explained, "She does get a bad rap She's actually a sweetheart. [Katherine] and my brother have like the coolest relationship I've ever seen. They like, they're one of those people that you want to ultimately be like." So, besides defending the "27 Dresses" star, what else is there to know about Heigl's famous brother-in-law? Let's take a look.

Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott revealed details about Lady A

How did Charles Kelley become a part of Lady A? In a recent interview with WRDW, Kelley revealed he and band member Dave Haywood were actually childhood friends. He also talked about his humble beginnings and passion for music, saying, "Music was just — it was music and golf. You know, you grow up in the home of James Brown, in the home of the masters and that was kind of what was ingrained in me." But ultimately, a move to Nashville and reunion with Haywood changed the game and kickstarted the band. The rest is history.

And though Lady A has had their conflicts, with Kelley being a self-proclaimed "aggressive personality," the trio seems to be tight-knit. In a 2020 article for People, they shared their approach to staying away from drama and maintaining a strong dynamic. Co-lead singer Hillary Scott said, "At the end of the day, when we don't always see eye to eye, we always come back to the truth that the three of us are so much more special and there's a magic there that could never be captured individually."

Lady A recently postponed their Request Line tour

While some fans may be disappointed to hold off, the band members of Lady A seem to be aligned when it comes to changing plans. According to People, Lady A moved their Request Line tour from this August to 2023 in order to stick by Charles Kelley as he focuses on sobriety. The group shared a statement on Instagram, writing, "So, right now in order to be the healthiest, strongest and most creative band we can be, Lady A will take the time with the support of our families and team of professionals to walk through this together."

A week later, Kelley a recent Instagram in which he expressed gratitude for those who have supported him as he gets sober. Along with a photo of him, his wife Cassie, and their son, Ward, he wrote, "Y'alls kind words have meant the world to me and really lifted me up over the past few weeks. I can't wait to get back on the road with Lady A next year."
