Aaron Carter Says He's Just Like Taylor Swift

The "Sooner or Later" singer just compared himself to one of the world's biggest pop stars.

In an Us Weekly article published on Dec. 15, 2017, Aaron Carter revealed that he considers himself to be like Taylor Swift. Commenting on his recent 30th birthday, he explained how he's been spending a lot of time in the recording studio in an effort to advance his music career.

"It's the safest place for me, and very therapeutic. I mean, I recorded 'Don't Say Goodbye,' the vocals here for my single in this actual room," he explained. "I mean, sometimes I'll just get the urge just to write music, but the thing about me that's weird is I'm kind of like a Taylor Swift but not really."

Carter went on, "No for real. It's because I write when I feel almost sad, and produce. I produce music when I almost feel like depressed or something like that. It's just my out. It's just been my way of resting my mind and that's how all these songs came about. They all came about ... they're about ex-girlfriends that didn't work out and I wrote songs about them while I was with them, trying to get them to understand what they were doing to me."

Writing songs about his exes? That does sound an awful lot like Swift.

Carter, who entered a treatment facility in October 2017, must be doing a lot of thinking these days. As Nicki Swift previously reported, he recently opened up about his public feud with Backstreet Boy brother Nick, which emerged following his own arrest for alleged DUI and marijuana possession in the summer. "There's Owen and Luke Wilson, the Baldwin brothers and there's Nick and Aaron Carter," he explained. "We have our times, but we're brothers."

Considering his father's death, a big breakup with his girlfriend, and a pseudo-intervention on The Doctors, Carter's had a tumultuous year. Here's hoping 2018 treats him well.
