Carrie Underwood Drops New Single 'Cry Pretty'

Carrie Underwood is back, people!

The country music star just released a brand new single titled "Cry Pretty." On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, the song, which is a track off of Underwood's upcoming sixth studio album, premiered on iHeartRadio — and we're predicting that it's gonna be a hit!

As reported by E! News, the single was penned by Underwood and the songwriting trio the Love Junkies — made up of Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna, and Liz Rose — and features lyrics like, "You can pretty lie, and say it's OK / You can pretty smile, and just walk away / Pretty much fake your way through anything / But you can't cry pretty."

Prior to the song's release, Underwood teased fans about it with a letter on her website, stating, "The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can't hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life." She added, "It's emotional. It's real. And it ROCKS!"

Fans of Underwood won't have to wait long to hear the singer belt out the lyrics live, as Underwood is slated to sing her new single at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

The awards show will mark Underwood's first public appearance in several months. As fans may already know, Underwood has had a rough time recovering from a nasty fall in November 2017. As a result of the accident, she had to receive 40 to 50 stitches on her face and needed surgery on her wrist. In late December, the former American Idol winner warned her fans that she might look different the next time they see her due to her injuries.

However, photos of the singer shared since then — both by a fan and by Underwood herself — have shown that Underwood looks more or less like how she's always looked.

The ACM Awards will air live on CBS at 8 p.m. EST on Sunday, April 15.
