Amanda Bynes Reportedly Plans To Return To Acting In 2018
Get ready to see a whole lot more of the former Nickelodeon star.
According to Page Six, Amanda Bynes is ready to act again. Her lawyer told the publication, "In 2018, she looks forward to completing fashion school and dipping her toe back into acting." Bynes' lawyer added that the actress "has had several offers but is waiting for the right one to come along for a comeback."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Bynes gave her first interview in years in June 2017. Appearing on Hollyscoop's The Lowdown, Bynes revealed that she was interested in acting again. "I want to do TV. Maybe a few guest spots on some shows that I'm a fan of and maybe another TV show where I'm the star of it, in the future," Bynes announced. "That's what I hope."
Bynes, who rose to fame as a kid with roles in All That and The Amanda Show, hasn't had an acting gig since 2010, when she starred in the Emma Stone-led film Easy A. Her past film work includes Big Fat Liar (2002), What a Girl Wants (2003), She's the Man (2006) and Hairspray (2007). She also starred in the WB series What I Like About You, alongside Jennie Garth.
While Bynes seemed poised to continue taking on Hollywood at the time, a number of personal issues set her back, most notably multiple arrests and several instances of unusual and erratic behavior. However, Bynes has since undergone psychiatric treatment—she was diagnosed as bipolar and manic depressive—and has since dedicated her time to studying at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
While we wait to see what's next for Bynes, read up on where '90s Nickelodeon stars are today.
