Everything Lili Reinhart Has Said About Her Sexuality

Since rocketing to fame with her portrayal of Betty Cooper in "Riverdale," Lili Reinhart has captured the hearts and attention of fans. Her relationship with co-star Cole Sprouse only drew more eyes, with People detailing their on-again, off-again romance. They were a high-profile couple, despite Reinhart's efforts to maintain some privacy. "You don't need to know," she told Teen Vogue, in reference to details about their relationship timeline. "People feel like they're owed that, and you're absolutely not owed anything by me."

Unexpectedly, Sprouse and Reinhart got more candid about their relationship after their split. Reinhart told Refinery29, "I couldn't see the light. I was like, I feel like I'm dying. It was f***ing rough." Sprouse, meanwhile, used his Instagram (via Us Weekly) to address the split, "What an incredible experience I had, I'll always feel lucky and cherish that I had the chance to fall in love."

Reinhart has since been romantically linked to actor Spencer Neville. After the pair attending Coachella together in 2022, a source told E! News, "Spencer has been the first person since her breakup that she's been really into." In true Reinhart fashion, details of the budding romance have been kept fairly quiet. However, Reinhart has opened up about one aspect of her love life, and often uses it to empower others.

Lili Reinhart casually came out as bisexual

In June 2020, protests were planned across the country following the murder of George Floyd. Lili Reinhart was among many celebrities who used their platforms to advocate for change and promote the events. Taking to her Instagram story, the actor promoted a West Hollywood march and revealed something about her sexuality that fans had not previously been privy to.

The post, captured by Us Weekly, shared a graphic for an "LGBTQ+ for #BlackLivesMatter Protest." Beneath the image, Reinhart wrote, "Although I've never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman. And I will be joining this protest today. Come join." In a later conversation with Nylon, Reinhart shared that she was surprised at how much press her announcement garnered. "I'm like, 'Isn't everyone bisexual?'" she joked. Indeed, she shared that she was hesitant to come out at first because it felt as though "bisexuality was becoming a trend [among celebrities.]"

Since her first Instagram post, Reinhart has continued to use her platforms to share her experiences and advocate against biphobia. In a tweet, she reshared a graphic which read, "Perhaps the reason romantic + sexual relationships between women are fetishized or perceived as 'a phase' is because our culture struggles to understand a concept of love + sexuality that doesn't involve men whatsoever." Reinhart chimed in, "AMEN. I am BI AND PROUD."

Fans have supported the actor's sexuality and advocacy

Since coming out, Lili Reinhart has served as inspiration for her fans and other advocates. She's continually spoken out in support of increased bisexual representation in media. When Disney created its first bisexual main character in "The Owl House," Reinhart shared her excitement with the BBC. "I feel in cinema and TV, the characters are usually gay or straight," she said. "There are a lot of bisexual people, including me. Before, I felt that people were going to invalidate what I was saying by telling me I was going through a phase."

Her Twitter continues to be a platform for her advocacy, as well. In March 2021, Reinhart wrote, "It's all too common for men to bully their bi/pan girlfriends. They can accept when a woman wants another man, but they can't respect when a woman wants another woman." The message received over 75,000 retweets.

Fans support of the star can easily be found on the social media platform, too. One wrote, "lili is the ultimate bicon. prove me wrong." Others praised Reinhart's dedication to addressing important issues and providing representation with her large platform. "lili reinhart is a successful actress, executive producer, poet, a proud bisexual woman, adressing mental health and body positivity," a fan said. "She's my idol and she saved my life."
