What Life Is Like For Barron Trump At Mar-A-Lago

Despite having rich and famous parents, Barron Trump has gone through more upheaval and turmoil than your average 16-year-old. When Donald Trump launched his presidential campaign in 2015, Barron was thrust into the spotlight and onto the public stage, posing grudgingly, like a typical 9-year-old, next to his parents. Donald and Melania Trump's only child spent his first 10 years living in his father's gold-plated palatial penthouse on Manhattan's tony 5th Avenue. Barron and Melania remained there for a bit after Donald relocated to Washington, D.C., following his presidential inauguration in January 2017. So, life inside the White House for Melania and Barron didn't start until June 2017.

The Daily News reported that they stayed in Manhattan until Barron finished his school year to cause the least disruption for him. But despite Melania's best efforts to shield her son, Barron was already being subjected to online bullying. A "Saturday Night Live" writer was suspended after tweeting that the then-10-year-old would become "this country's first homeschool shooter."

When they finally moved in, Melania told "Fox & Friends" (via Town & Country), "We are enjoying it very much." She added Barron loved the White House life. "Looking forward to the memories we'll make in our new home!" the then-FLOTUS tweeted. Barron wasn't just adjusting to a new home, though; he also had to contend with a new school and making new friends. In 2021, the Trump family moved again, this time to Florida. So, what's life like for Barron Trump at Mar-a-Lago?

Barron Trump's the new boy on the school block

Barron Trump's life today at Mar-a-Lago is as challenging for the teenager as it was at the White House. Barron was previously a student at St. Andrew's Episcopal School near Washington, D.C. However, he's had to change schools for the third time in six years since relocating to Florida. As any kid knows, starting over at a new school can be daunting. It's made all the more daunting for Barron, given his parentage. Being the son of Donald Trump comes with a high price tag and doesn't exactly make blending in with the crowd and forging friendships easy.

The Palm Beach Post reports Barron is now attending the Oxbridge Academy, an elite private facility near Mar-a-Lago. The school's administrators contacted all of the pupils' parents to inform them of Barron's enrollment. "A small contingent of (Secret Service) agents will be present during each school day," the Academy's head wrote. "We are working directly with the Secret Service to ensure that logistics and security work smoothly and discreetly with little impact on students, faculty, staff, or day-to-day operations."

The school was started by billionaire Bill Koch and costs $35,000 yearly to attend. Given its location in West Palm Beach and the founder's political leanings, it's safe to assume that most students' families are staunch Republicans. So, at least the sophomore has a foot up there — not that he needs one, as Barron's height is already a staggering 6-foot-7.

Barron Trump's bonding with his dad over 18 holes

Barron Trump's life at Mar-a-Lago allows him much more one-on-one time with his father, Donald Trump. Barron's new Oxbridge Academy school focuses strongly on athletics and academia. The school website claims their sports program provides pupils the "framework for leadership, fair play, and ethical behavior." All of which form "necessary skills for competition and cooperation in our society."

Golf plays a significant part in the academy's weekly sports schedule, which is handy, as Donald Trump is renowned for his love of the game. The Washington Post reported Donald played around 261 rounds of golf during his presidency, often at his privately owned courses and clubs. Barron's newly honed golfing skills are already helping him bond further with his father. And by all accounts, he's a natural. Barron's swing skills have even made their way onto TikTok.

The teen has been spotted playing 18 holes with his dad at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. "Donald actually played golf with Barron ... over the weekend. This was a big deal and surprising," a source told People. "For those who see Donald playing golf so frequently, they have rarely seen him with Barron."

Barron Trump's chillin' with his mom in the spa

Barron Trump's always been close to his mom, Melania Trump. She prides herself on being a real hands-on mother, helping her son with homework and inspiring him to think big. "He wants to be a golfer, a businessman, a pilot. It's that age when you introduce him to stuff," Melania told People before moving into the White House.

"As a mother myself, I know what goes into raising a child," Melania shared during a White House Mother's Day speech, per People. "As moms, we are so incredibly privileged to be able to bring children into this world and be a part of helping them grow into adults." Now that the family's at Mar-a-Lago and Melania's no longer FLOTUS, she has even more time to devote to her only child. According to People, Barron's been getting his pamper on with Melania. The magazine claims the teenager regularly spends time chilling with his mom, enjoying spa treatments inside their sprawling Florida estate.

Like most kids his age, Barron also appears to spend lots of his spare time on his computer. Proud dad Donald Trump boasted about the 16-year-old's tech and hacking skills during a CPAC speech in February, per The U.S. Sun. "I have a young son, Barron. He can make his computer sing," Donald announced, telling the crowd his son can get into his computer even after it's locked.
