Why Meghan Markle Allegedly Had A Falling Out With Victoria Beckham

Six months after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry started dating, the future Duchess of Sussex shared her thoughts on a famous British designer: Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham. Speaking to Glamour in 2017, the "Suits" star explained what was holding her back from spicing up her wardrobe. "I love Victoria Beckham dresses, but I don't have the long torso to support that silhouette," she said.

A month after that interview, The Sun claimed that Meghan and Beckham had become BFFs by bonding over their passion for something other than fashion, but their reported convos about beauty treatments and hair were still in their wheelhouse as women living in the public eye. A source claimed Beckham had recommended her own facialist to Meghan, who was purportedly interested in visiting the designer's hairdresser, too. "Meghan trusts and appreciates her advice," the insider dished. Meghan also broke her style embargo by rocking one of Posh's pieces in her 2017 engagement photos with Prince Harry. "She looked absolutely beautiful in my jumper," Beckham gushed to The Guardian. However, she denied rumors that she'd been asked to design Meghan's wedding dress.

Beckham did score an invite to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal wedding, and she was a fan of the Givenchy gown Meghan ended up choosing. "It really suited her," she told the Evening Standard. However, according to The Sun, Beckham's relationship with Meghan had soured by then.

Meghan Markle reportedly thought Victoria Beckham was leaking stories about her

In 2020, a source told Heatworld that Victoria Beckham was horrified that details about a rumored falling out with Meghan Markle had become public knowledge. The insider claimed that Meghan had reached out to Victoria about wearing the designer's clothing and did not react well when she was told that Victoria never gives away freebies. "That's when Meghan turned on her, accusing her of selling stories on her," said the source. According to The Sun, the rumored incident happened in late 2017.

In his book "Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors," author Tom Bower shares an account of what reportedly happened after Meghan accused Victoria of speaking to the media about her behind her back. "Harry called David Beckham to repeat the accusation. Outraged, Beckham's truthful denials damaged their relationship," Bower writes.

An insider told The Sun that the reports Meghan was rumored to be upset about included details about the beauty advice Victoria supposedly gave her. The outlet's source said that David and Prince Harry decided to put the incident behind them, adding, "But it certainly made things awkward for a while. It later turned out the leak probably came from a beauty salon." By February 2018, Meghan and Victoria were reportedly friends again. "They get along well and have been in touch recently," one of Victoria's pals told Vanity Fair. However, a few years later, the Mirror reported that the Beckhams had snubbed the Sussexes.

Victoria Beckham's rumored wedding dilemma

In 2019, all seemed well between Meghan Markle and Victoria Beckham. During an appearance on "Live with Kelly and Ryan," Victoria reacted to Meghan's decision to wear her designs on Christmas Day. "It was such a lovely surprise to wake up to," she gushed. Victoria also complimented Meghan during an interview with Glamour UK, saying, "I liked what Meghan Markle said at the [British] Fashion Awards, that it used to be cool to be cruel, and now it's cool to be kind."

In 2020, Meghan returned the love by wearing a vibrant blue pencil dress from Victoria's label for one of her last royal engagements, per Hola! But the following year, Victoria reportedly faced a dilemma: Sould she snub the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to avoid potentially offending William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales? According to Closer, Victoria fretted over whether to invite one or both of the couples to the wedding of her son Brooklyn Beckham and actor Nicola Peltz. The relationships between the two couples formerly known as "the fab four" turned frosty after the Sussexes decided to step down as working royals, per CBS News, but a source told Closer that the Beckhams did not want to choose sides.

The Mirror later reported that they did make a choice _ and got turned down by their future king. "William replied wishing them a great deal of joy but they are unable to attend," a source revealed.
