Is Jennifer Lopez Friends With Meghan Markle And Prince Harry?

Jennifer Lopez doesn't need a title or royal lineage to live like a queen. She's a big fan of the princess dress, as observed by British Vogue, and she even rocked a gold crown for a 2021 Dolce & Gabbana runway show in Venice. Jenny from the Block also possesses a collection of rocks to rival that of the British royal family, including her rare green diamond engagement ring from Ben Affleck. Speaking to Page Six, one expert estimated that the bauble cost the actor upward of $10 million.

The regal pop star seems to be a big fan of the royal fam, according to actor Mary Louise Parker. She and Lopez were among the celebs mingling at the 2011 BAFTA gala when William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales attended the event, but Parker was unable to greet the couple. "I was shoved out of the way by Jennifer Lopez. Uh oh, I shouldn't have said that," she later recalled to People. J.Lo also tweeted about her encounter with Prince William and Kate Middleton. "The Duke & Dutchess were simply charming!" she gushed.

But how does the "Dinero" singer feel about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex? Meghan Markle does seem to have a talent for charming pop stars — she interviewed Mariah Carey for her "Archetypes" podcast, and Beyoncé praised Meghan on her website. So, when Meghan and Prince Harry got to meet J.Lo, it shouldn't come as a surprise that they reportedly hit it off.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry dined with Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez

Before the launch of Bennifer 2.0, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the JPMorgan summit along with Jennifer Lopez and her former flame, Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, in 2020. Per Page Six, Harry spoke at the Miami event, which attracted a number of billionaires and power players. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seated next to Rodriguez and Lopez when attendees dined at the Habitat restaurant in South Beach.

An eyewitness to the meeting of the mega stars said that the couples got along swimmingly. "J-Lo was overheard inviting the couple and their baby Archie to her and Alex's house in Miami to spend time with them and their kids," dished the insider. We don't know whether the Sussexes took Lopez up on her offer, but a year later, they all participated in Global Citizen's Vax Live concert. According to Hello!, the Sussexes co-chaired the event, so it's possible that they personally reached out to Lopez to ask her to perform. Her new man, Ben Affleck, also put in an appearance.

The "Hustlers" actor might be unaware that she previously helped Harry live it up in Las Vegas in 2012. He still had a rep as a playboy prince when he attended the massive pool party that Lopez hosted at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino's Wet Republic venue. However, People reported that Harry was clearly trying to keep a low profile, so he never approached Lopez to introduce himself.

Was Meghan Markle's wedding dress inspired by Jennifer Lopez?

For her royal wedding, Meghan Markle chose an unadorned Givenchy gown. One of its most distinctive details was its bateau neckline, which is something Meghan knew she wanted from the start, per Elle U.K. While discussing her wedding dress plans for an exhibit, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, didn't mention the Jennifer Lopez classic "The Wedding Planner." On Twitter, though, some fans were convinced that her bridal gown was inspired by the dress with a similar neckline that Lopez wears for her on-screen wedding.

The costume designer for the film, Pam Chilton, shared her thoughts about the theories with Glamour. "I'm like, 'Well, I'm sure it's a coincidence.' But she was at a good rom-com age when the movie came out — she could have been watching it at sleepovers!" For the record, Meghan is a big rom-com fan. When the "Harry & Meghan" star spoke to Variety about her future Netflix plans, she revealed that she would love to help the genre stage a comeback. However, if she turned to her favorite films for wedding dress inspo, we're guessing there's a higher likelihood that she re-watched "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Runaway Bride." She said of her rom-com obsession, "I miss them so much. ... all the Julia Roberts rom-coms. We need to see those again." Lopez is still working in the genre, so if Meghan ever does produce her own rom-com, she should definitely give the "Marry Me" star a call.
