The Impressive Number Of Times Blake Shelton Won The Voice

Blake Shelton has been a long-standing coach on "The Voice" since it premiered in 2011. During Season 1, the country star sat alongside famous musicians CeeLo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Adam Levine. Over the years, there's been a rotation of singers who've sat in those turning chairs, but Shelton has been the only coach to appear for every consecutive season — though he has since announced he's leaving "The Voice" after 12 years.

Shelton admitted initially thinking the concept of "The Voice" wasn't going to work. "To be honest, I didn't think the show was gonna last. In fact one of the first conversations I ever had with Adam was, 'Man, how stupid is this?'" he told People in February 2021. However, the show went on to become a huge success. Fans loved Shelton's jokester personality and his signature move of pointing to himself to get the contestants to pick him as their coach.

Despite being in the country genre, Shelton mentored many aspiring singers with a wide variety of backgrounds, and went on to be one of the most successful coaches on the show with the most wins to date.

Blake Shelton won The Voice nine times

There's a reason Blake Shelton is one of the most popular coaches on "The Voice." The Oklahoma native has helped nine of his mentees take home the big win, according to Billboard. While he didn't win Season 1, he gained momentum after his first win in Season 2, with R&B singer Jermaine Paul. He then won two consecutive seasons with Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbury in Seasons 3 and 4, respectively.

Over the seasons, Shelton took home many other wins, with Season 22 being his latest. The "Ol' Red" singer coached fellow country crooner Bryce Leatherwood to the finale, and managed to steal America's heart, per Entertainment Tonight. Shelton shared how proud he was of his mentee. "I mean the world's at his fingertips right now. That's what most exciting for me as a coach, after the fact — after all this time, I know what opportunities are coming his way," he gushed.

But his latest win is bittersweet as Shelton announced that Season 23 will be his last. "I've been wrestling with this for a while and I've decided that it's time for me to step away from 'The Voice' after Season 23. This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me," he wrote on Instagram. He later shared with People that his motivation for stepping away was to focus on his stepchildren with Gwen Stefani. However, there is one reason the beloved coach would return.

Blake Shelton would return to The Voice as a mentor

Many fans can't imagine "The Voice" without Blake Shelton. Since Season 1, he's been entertaining viewers with his banter and hilarious hijinks. Fans also love how his romance with fellow coach Gwen Stefani developed because of the show. The two first met in Season 7 when Stefani came on as a coach, per People. At the time, she and Shelton were married to their respective spouses, but they later bonded over their subsequent divorces. In 2015, Stefani and Shelton made their relationship official and the two got married in 2021 at the country singer's Oklahoma ranch.

When Season 22 wrapped, Stefani broke down in tears, and Shelton explained to Entertainment Tonight that his wife was emotional about their last season together. "It will be the last time she and I do this together, and it is crazy to think of how the show changed my life. I was so wrapped up in this that I didn't even think about that, and now you're trying to make me emotional!" he said.

However, fans will be happy to know that Season 23 might not be the last time we see him on "The Voice." Shelton revealed to the publication that he may come back as Stefani's team mentor. "I'd be honored to be Gwen's mentor," Blake shared. "Whatever she tells me to do, I'm gonna do." With Shelton by her side, Team Gwen might just take the win during her next season of "The Voice."
