Tom Hanks' Youngest Son Is Growing Up To Look Just Like The Star

Tom Hanks is not only an acclaimed Oscar-winning star, but he also occupies the role of father to four now-adult kids in his personal life. Per The U.S. Sun, Hanks has two children from his past relationship with Samantha Lewes, Colin and Elizabeth, and two more children from his marriage to actor Rita Wilson, Chet and his youngest son, Truman. In a 2020 interview with journalist Graham Bensinger, Hanks discussed what his approach to parenting has been.

"It was not a uniform process," Hanks said. "And I have four kids. Colin is in his 40s, my daughter, Elizabeth, is in her 30s, my son Chester just turned 30, and my son Truman is 24. I was a different dad for each one of those guys. I didn't know what I was doing. I learned through a process of elimination, of learning what not to do as opposed to what to do as a dad." Truman was born in 1995 and attended The Thacher School from 2010 to 2014. He went on to graduate from Stanford University in 2018, and he has since taken on jobs working behind the camera for Hollywood projects. One of Truman's recent roles in entertainment, however, displays his connection to his dad — including just how much he's come to look like the famous actor.

Truman Hanks plays a younger version of Tom Hanks' character in A Man Called Otto

Truman Hanks recently acted alongside his dad, Tom Hanks. While visiting "The Graham Norton Show" in December 2022, Tom talked about how Truman ended up playing a younger version of his character in the film "A Man Called Otto," which is soon-to-be released nationwide. Tom said of Truman, "He's an artist. He's going to be a cinematographer. He's been carrying around a camera since he was 13 years old and developing his own film." Despite the fact that this is Truman's area of interest, Tom said the director of the film, Marc Forster, asked to meet with Truman about the role since he has a physical resemblance to his famous father.

When Tom told Forster that Truman doesn't have a desire to act and works behind the scenes, Forster stated to Tom, "'Maybe I can talk [Truman] into doing it, because then I won't have to audition a bunch of people who look like you.'" In addition, Tom shared that "[he] thought [Truman] was extraordinary" as he portrayed the part. During a 2022 "A Man Called Otto" Q&A, Tom referenced his and Truman's resemblance, perPeople. "The good news is that I looked like [Truman] when I was 26. The bad news is he's gonna look like me in another 40 years," Tom quipped. Aside from this acting collaboration, Truman has begun to build an impressive career pursuing his primary passion.

Truman Hanks prefers to work behind the camera

Truman Hanks might have acted with his dad, Tom Hanks, but he has also embarked upon his own successful path. When Tom spoke to Deadline in 2022, he mentioned how Truman fit the bill to play a younger version of his character for "A Man Called Otto." "If you hold up a picture of me at the age of 26 and our youngest son [Truman] at the age of 26, we are dead ringers for each other," Tom said. While Truman convincingly pulled off the part, his main focus is working in the camera and electrical departments of the entertainment industry.

From 2019 to 2020, Truman worked as a camera trainee for the series "Babylon Berlin." He's since served as a utility and digital utility for the blockbuster Marvel film starring Scarlett Johansson, "Black Widow." In 2021, Truman was the director of photography assistant for Steven Spielberg's remake of "West Side Story." His latest job is listed as a film loader for "Asteroid City," a film by Wes Anderson that's set to be released in the summer of 2023, per Variety. Prior to scoring these jobs, Truman graduated from Stanford University in 2018, his LinkedIn reveals. Although Truman often keeps a low profile, he's recently appeared on the red carpet for screenings of "A Man Called Otto," including the December 2022 premiere in Spain, according to Parade.
