Russell Crowe's Sons Are Growing Up To Look Just Like The Star

Russell Crowe is a loving family man. In 2021, Russell was plunged into mourning following the death of his father, John Crowe. "Today, although the sun is shining and the torrential rain has abated, this date will forever be tinged with sadness," Russell tweeted. "My dear old man, my beautiful dad, the most gentle of men, has passed away." The "Gladiator" star is a doting dad himself to his sons, Charles and Tennyson Crowe, who live in Australia with their mom, Danielle Spencer (per E! News). Russell and Spencer split in 2012, and in 2018, he took to Twitter to announce that the two had finalized their divorce.

Russell admits the split and his career demands mean that he doesn't get to spend much time with his boys. Still, the little time he does get, he makes the most of it. "I have limited time with my kids. I don't get to wake up with them every day," the 58-year-old told Nova 96.9 (via Now To Love). "I get them every year between December 27 and January, so if you expect me to do anything, anything, I don't give a s*** what it is in that time that doesn't include my children, well you can go and whatever," he shared.

Back in the day, Russell earned himself a bit of a reputation for being a hothead. Still, when it comes to his boys, he doesn't need to lose his cool and call Maury Povich, as Russell Crowe's sons are growing up to look just like the star.

Russell Crowe's ex-wife Danielle Spencer still considers him part of the family

Russell Crowe's ex-wife, Danielle Spencer, posted a pic on Instagram of herself with the couple's two sons, Charles and Tennyson Crowe, and the boys are the spitting image of their film star father. The teens are still only 17 and 14, but they already tower over their mom.

Despite rumors of infidelity, Russell and Spencer managed to keep things civilized during their divorce proceedings, and they've even forged a friendship post-romance. Spencer told Sunday Style (via Who) that their sons play a large part in the equation, in addition to the former couple being "in and out of each other's lives" since they were teens. "We have a lot of respect for each other and I consider him to be a member of my family," she told The Daily Telegraph in 2022. "The marriage ended, but that didn't mean our friendship ended."

During the pandemic, Russell's sons made the decision to stay with their mom rather than isolate with him in the bush, despite him begging them to join him. "They were like, 'No no, dad we've made the decision that, in a pandemic, we're going to isolate in the most populous part of the country surrounded by the areas that have the most infections,'" Russell jokingly told Jimmy Fallon. "And I'm like, 'Guys, can I ask why?' And my youngest one, who is just too honest, said ... 'Uber Eats.'"

Russell Crowe will always put his sons first, no matter what

Russell Crowe hasn't always been a kind and gentle family man. Back in the day, Crowe's explosive temper earned him a "nasty reputation" and sparked a slew of reports that he was "difficult" to work with. E! News lists incidents of him brawling — even fighting with his own bodyguard — and attacking a hotel employee with his cell phone, resulting in charges of "felony assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon."

ITN Archive posted a compilation video of Crowe's grumpiest moments. "This is the way to hate the world gladiator style," the narrator states in the intro. They show Crowe ignoring excited fans lining the red carpet as he lamely scribbles his name on autograph books before finishing with a loud sigh. It's hard out here for a movie star! The actor's disdain for the media and paparazzi is well documented — he's like the Aussie Alec Baldwin. However, nowadays, he's positively Zen-like. Crowe's girlfriend Britney Theriot has apparently had a calming effect on the angsty actor. The Daily Mail reports they started dating in 2020 and rumors of wedding bells are already swirling.

However, Crowe made it clear that his sons come first, no matter what. "I have what I feel is an obligation to my kids, to not confuse their lives too much," he told News.com AU (via Now To Love). "It's already pretty tricky for them. There's life itself, then there's life as a famous person's kids."
