Celebs Who Soiled Themselves In Public

Pooping or peeing your pants in public is a pretty uncommon occurrence, right? Right. And yet, there are a decent amount of A-list stars who have accidentally wet their pants, or far worse. What's more, plenty of your favorite celebs have not only had a toilet-related (or lack thereof) accident in public — but they've also fully admitted to it in graphic detail. While most celebrities take interviews as the chance to plug their newest project or jump on a sofa à la Tom Cruise, there are those all too honest few who go from glitzy to, well, s**tzy.

So, if you're interested in hearing about the time an "American Idol" icon's bowels betrayed her during a gig, or about a mega-famous weatherman having to ditch his soiled underwear at the White House, or about a charming pop star who totally misjudged a gassy moment while performing (hey, we don't judge), you're in the right place. Proceed with caution, as this list is not for the faint of shart.

Jenny McCarthy's Pooboy nightmare

Jenny McCarthy knows a thing or two about a blowout. The best part, though? She's not afraid to talk about it, either. The typically outspoken star got very frank about a toilet nightmare she had back in her days as a Playboy model... only there was no actual toilet involved. "I once had really bad diarrhea at a Playboy autograph signing. I was squeezed into a tight red dress, dripping in sweat, and knew something was not right," she recalled to Arena in 2006 (via The Sun). The former "The View" co-host managed to carry on as if nothing was wrong despite her bubbling tummy troubles... before things took a nasty turn. "I just kept having my picture taken with the fans. But then I was like: 'Oh no, the demon is about to be unleashed.' And it was unleashed for about 20 guys to witness," she shared. "I knew at that point in my career all I was supposed to do was turn men on, but just ended up grossing them out."

That's hardly the only time McCarthy hasn't been able to control her toilet habits in public, though. During a 2005 appearance on "The Howard Stern Show," McCarthy actually wet her pants because she was laughing so hard while in the show's tickle chair. (Wow, what a sentence.) And it's safe to say the internet had some fun with it.

Al Roker's visit to 1600 Poop-sylvania Avenue

Al Roker opened up about a BM disaster he had while visiting the White House. As he shared on "Dateline" in 2013, he pooped his pants at the president's home after thinking he just had to fart. Really. "I probably went off and ate something I wasn't supposed to. And as I'm walking to the press room, [I'm thinking], 'I gotta pass a little gas here.' I'm walking by myself. Who's gonna know? Only a little something extra came out. ... I pooped my pants," he shared, noting that was a common side effect of the gastric bypass procedure he'd had. The whole thing culminated with the longtime "Today" weatherman having to ditch his underwear in a White House bathroom. Now, how many people can say they've done that?

Roker also wrote about the dirty deed in his book "Never Goin' Back: Winning the Weight-Loss Battle For Good," and naturally, his "Today" co-stars were sure to highlight this messy memory. Roker told his colleagues he had a very good and admirable reason for sharing the poopy moment with the world. "I want people to realize that there are consequences to gastric surgery... some embarrassing, others can be life-threatening or fatal," he explained. Roker also added that, despite his viral embarrassing event, he has been back to the White House since — without incident.

Chris Brown's shorts were just that

Code brown or Chris Brown? Early in his career, things took a gross turn when the singer couldn't control his bowels on a stage. Brown recalled the super awkward moment on MTV's "When I Was 17" in 2011. As he recalled, thanks to a bout of food poisoning, things went especially south for him in the middle of a performance. "I just remember my stomach starting bubbling," he recalled, but decided to remain professional and not rush off stage. It was a decision he quickly regretted. "I just remember dancing and onstage in the midst of all that, I... is it, like, sharted?" he shared. Thankfully, Brown had a costume change coming up anyway, but instead of getting a head start on said costume change, he figured he could wait it out. The worst part? "I just remember it running down my leg," Brown shared. Nice. Luckily, he managed to get away with his mishap and the people in the audience were none the wiser. Until he told the world on MTV, of course. Now that gives a whole new meaning to his song "Don't Say S**t."

While that appears to be the only time Brown has gone brown on stage (that we know of!), the incident didn't stop him talking poop publicly. In fact, he made some pretty crass insults on Twitter back in 2014, including telling a woman he wanted to defecate on her, per Hollywood.com. Lovely.

Kelly Clarkson's trash can of shame

The ever-candid Kelly Clarkson got very honest about a pretty major toilet mishap she had following a performance... in which she ended up pooping in a trash can. Yes, you read that right. Speaking to country star Clint Black on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in April 2021, the OG "American Idol" winner recalled a time she ate something she probably shouldn't have before taking to the stage. "I'll tell you right now, there was one time it wasn't pee, my friend," she confessed. "I had to run backstage to my quick change. I grabbed this poor trash can, and boy, I destroyed it. It was bad. It was bad, Clint. And we might have to edit this out but I'm just saying. It happens! What are you supposed to do?" Well, she does have a point. If this list is anything to go by, it certainly does happen.

But, while chatting to a country star about poop on your own talk show may seem like a pretty far-fetched concept to most, it turns out her chat with Black actually wasn't the first time Clarkson has done such a thing. Proving she's not afraid to chat doody in front of the whole world, in December 2019 she swapped poopy parenting stories with Jason Aldean on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" when they both opened up about having to clean up their kids', erm, major messy mishaps. Oh, poop.

Tyler Oakley's late night led to a poop-tastrophe

YouTuber Tyler Oakley has a story of a big drinking session that turned into something a little more, well, solid. In a 2013 YouTube video, he recalled heading to class the morning after a night of partying. "I'm walking down the hall and I'm like, 'Ooh,"" he recalled. "Then, I'm like, 'I think I just have to fart.' ... I trusted the fart, and this is halfway to class ... and I s**t my pants. ... It was like an explosion. ... It was flowing." Luckily, Oakley wasn't too far from home and managed to rush back for some serious clean up. "I waltzing down the hallway to get to my room, and we have an open-door policy in my hall, so everyone' just, like, 'Hey, Tyler!' ... I get back to my room, and my roommate was there now. ... I showered, I threw away my underwear, and I never told anyone." Well, until he told everyone with an internet connection. Oakley also detailed a few other trips to brown town in the hilarious video, which also featured poopy confessions from fellow YouTuber Louise Pentland.

But don't think Oakley — who's since stepped back from YouTube –  is always the pooper; he's also been the poop-ee. In a 2015 YouTube video, he shared he'd been sitting outside when a bird thought he'd be the perfect target for a crappy projectile. Hey, what goes around, comes around.

Ed Sheeran is in love with the shart of poo

Proving it really has happened to the best of us, even Ed Sheeran has a poop story to tell. Just like Chris Brown and Tyler Oakley, Sheeran underestimated a bowel movement while he was on stage. "I actually once misjudged a fart onstage, which ended up being a shart," he shared on the Aussie radio show Nova FM in 2015. He went on to explain that he passes gas pretty frequently while on stage (something you may have smelled for yourself if you've ever been front row at a Sheeran gig). "It was like midway through a performance and I was kinda like really lively, and then halfway through, I was like, 'I'm just gonna stand still for the rest of this performance and hope it's over soon and then go home and throw these trousers out,'" he recalled, revealing his tummy was all messed up from multiple international flights in a row.

It seems like poop has apparently become a common association with Sheeran though. As well as his messy confession, one of his fans, Sophie McCartney, went viral in 2017 for re-working the lyrics to his huge hit "Shape of You" to "Smell Like Poo." BBC News reported McCartney's parody notched up over 14 million views, and, although he hasn't yet, it sounds like it would be perfect for Sheeran to cover. Only, he should probably head to the bathroom before he starts.

Jennifer Lawrence hit her limit with sneak attack BMs

Turns out, you can be both an Oscar-winning megastar and someone who has suffered a poop attack. Actor Jennifer Lawrence hasn't just soiled herself once, but multiple times. Lawrence made the admission on the "Late Show with David Letterman" in 2013. The "Hunger Games" star revealed she went to the doctor after assuming she had an ulcer. "It was a fulcer," she joked with a grunt. "I just had this really bad pain for like three weeks, and you can only s**t your pants so many times a day before you, like, have to go to the emergency room, before you're like, 'I need to go to the hospital!'"

Lawrence had not yet figured out the culprit, but a number of outlets reported that she was dealing with a particularly gnarly case of gas — and she sure got a kick out of those reports. As she said on "Good Morning America," "I was like, 'I don't even want to like [deny that]. Let's confirm that.'"

Thankfully, it sounds like Lawrence was all good after her hospital trip, and we know she's not afraid to chat about bodily functions — no matter how embarrassing. Case in point? In a 2008 interview with MTV News, she revealed her plans to bring a fart machine to a movie set. Oh Jennifer Lawrence, never change.

Fergie had a feeling she couldn't make it to the toilet

If you were a pop culture follower back in 2007, you'll probably remember those viral photos of then Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie (aka Stacey Ferguson or Fergie Ferg) with a big ol' wet patch spread across her crotch while on stage for a performance.

Despite the embarrassment of literally wetting her pants in front of the whole world, Fergie took it all in her stride (which, ironically may have been what caused the pee incident to begin with) and explained what really went down seven years later on "Ebro In The Morning." The singer said that thanks to some particularly heavy traffic, they showed up late for a performance and didn't have time for a bathroom pitstop. "I'm running on and we jump and do 'Let's Get [It Started],'" she recounted. "I get crazy and I jump and I run across the stage and my adrenaline was going and... gosh." Yeah, we'll let you fill in the blanks.

Unfortunately for the star, the mishap went down in the golden age of blogs and when social media sites like MySpace were increasingly popular, meaning the embarrassing pictures quickly went viral and made their wet way around the world in no time. Oopsie.

Nick Kroll gave birth to a 'butt baby' in the car

If you're not in the mood for a particularly graphic story of a grown man pooping his pants, you may want to skip over this one.

In 2011, Nick Kroll went on "Conan" and gave a full-on recap of the time a BM hit when he was still in his car. "I'm like, five minutes from my house, I am very close to home," he remembered. "So I'm like, 'I can do this.' And then I'm just like, [begins taking deep breaths], like butt Lamaze, because I'm about to have a butt baby, because I am crowning." The "Big Mouth" co-creator revealed he then had the idea to try to let a little out because he was about to blow, but that didn't go so well. "I hovering, holding onto my steering wheel for leverage ... and my body was like, 'No. We want it all.' So I'm sitting there ... and I just fill my underwear with, like, a travel-size pillow worth of brisket," he divulged. After the deed was done, Kroll waddled his way to the shower, before enjoying a post-poop nap following his traumatic experience.

The browning crowning story came back to haunt Kroll six years later though during a return to "Conan." The comedian was reminded of his antics after he claimed he didn't have anything in common with his "Captain Underpants" character, the aptly titled Professor Poopypants. Conan O'Brien knew better though, showing the previous interview in all its glory.

Iggy Azalea's wet trip to the dentist

Ever peed your pants in the dentist chair? Well, Iggy Azalea has. Iggy Iz revealed in a 2016 tweet that she once had a whopping eight-hour dentist appointment that left her so desperate for the bathroom that she felt she had no choice but to just let it rip in the chair. "So I went to the dentist today and got multiple [root] canals," she tweeted (via Daily Mail). "The real story is I peed my pants. [It's] mildly amusing or I wouldn't mention it, but I feel we need to talk about it," she added. The tweet has since been deleted but not forgotten.

But while she may have removed that wet pants tweet from her account, it's certainly not the only time she's discussed bodily functions on the social media site. In January 2016, she asked the Twitterverse in a since-deleted tweet (via E! News), "What is with guys taking dumps in the nude. this is really a thing and [I'm] just now finding out about it." Alas, it's one of life's frankly unanswerable questions.

No one pees like Gaston, except maybe Hugh Jackman

Before he became a movie star playing tough guys and Wolverine in the "X-Men" movies, Hugh Jackman was a musical theater performer. He got his big break in 1996 playing the villain Gaston in an Australian production of "Beauty and the Beast." It was an extremely physically demanding gig. "I had headaches everyday for two months," Jackman explained on "The Rachael Ray Show." After a naturopath diagnosed Jackman's chief issue as dehydration, the actor began a water drinking regimen, consuming a gallon of water a day. However, it all had to go somewhere.

"I go down to the stage, getting ready for my number, and I'm like, 'I really need to go again,'" Jackman recalled. He didn't get a chance to hit the restroom, however. "Literally I'm picking up Belle and as I pick her up, I stopped singing and right in that moment I realized the muscles you need to release in order to sing are the ones you do not want to release if you need to go." After accidentally emptying his bladder into his costume on stage, Jackman made as hasty a stage exit as possible.
