What Kate Chastain Has Been Up To Since Leaving Below Deck

TV personality Kate Chastain has moved on to new projects since ending her time on "Below Deck." Chastain first began appearing in the Bravo series in its second season as she filled the position of chief stewardess, per Bravo. After six seasons as a popular "Below Deck" cast member, Chastain took to her Instagram account in February 2020 to reveal that she would be leaving the show.

"After many months of reflection and internal discussions, I have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new land based role," Chastain wrote. "I intend to step back as a senior member of the Below Deck Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support His Majesty Andy Cohen." In August 2020, Chastain discussed why she'd chosen to walk away from "Below Deck" when she was a guest on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen." Per Bravo, she said, "I just feel like I'm 37 and a half — and I don't think a girl should be wearing a skort at 38." Following this departure, the reality star has continued her television appearances and has an exciting announcement in her personal life.

Kate Chastain has a big personal update since Below Deck

Kate Chastain has taken on new television gigs since finishing her longtime position on "Below Deck." Starting in 2021, Chastain joined "Below Deck Galley Talk," in which fan-favorite former "Below Deck" cast members share their thoughts on the latest episodes of the show, per The A.V. Club. More recently, Chastain has begun to appear as a contestant on "The Traitors." The Peacock program centers around 20 contestants who are competing for a sizable cash prize. As the hopefuls vie for the money in the Scottish Highlands, three contestants have been designated as "the traitors" and attempt to find a way to steal the money from their competitors. The show is hosted by Alan Cumming, and features other reality stars such as Brandi Glanville and Ryan Lochte.

Meanwhile, Chastain has revealed major news in her personal life. In December 2022, she announced via an Instagram post that she is pregnant with her first child. "I'm already planning so many birthday theme parties for you," Chastain wrote while showing off her baby bump. Other TV personalities responded to Chastain with congratulatory comments. "Eeeeek the news is out!! Sooooo excited for you my angel," Fraser Olender of "Below Deck" wrote. "Southern Charm" star Madison LeCroy added, "How did I miss this!?? Congratulations." Additionally, Chastain has publicly stated how she feels about a possible return to "Below Deck."

Kate Chastain remains focused on her current roles

Life has been good for Kate Chastain following "Below Deck." In December 2022, Chastain chatted with People about her joy as she approaches parenthood. "I am absolutely thrilled to become a mother," Chastain said. "It's something I've always hoped for, so this is truly a dream come true!" The TV star also visited "Watch What Happens Live" that same month and spoke with Andy Cohen about the exciting news. "I'm doing it solo and perhaps with some help, but I'm happy to do it alone," Chastain said of raising her child, Us Weekly reported.

Back in 2021, Chastain talked to HollywoodLife about her past on "Below Deck." When she was asked if she'd ever return to "Below Deck" in the event that Captain Lee Rosbach needed her assistance, Chastain said that she might under certain circumstances. "If it was Captain Lee, and it was a one charter only emergency situation, I'd say yes, but otherwise, I think I'd prefer to go back to the yachting world as a charting guest," she revealed. Later that year, she told Us Weekly "it would take a lot of money" for her to go back to the series. For now, Chastain is dedicated to her new roles. Her latest Instagram posts have teased "The Traitors" and "Below Deck Galley Talk," and have documented how she's preparing for motherhood.
