Are James Kennedy And Max Todd Still Friends?
James Kennedy certainly brings some spice to "Vanderpump Rules." The DJ, who first started his career in Lisa Vanderpump's restaurants as a busboy, has gone on to become a staple of Bravo and a working DJ. Kennedy actually comes from a famous family, and a musical one too; his father, Andros Georgiou, managed Aegean Records, a European record company that was created by Georgiou and George Michael himself. It's quite the lineage! Kennedy's parents were part of England's society and that's how they met Vanderpump, who offered to give Kennedy a job -– a humble one for sure -– in one of her restaurants.
What makes "Vanderpump Rules" so compelling is that the show doesn't just showcase the drama of restaurant life, it also covers the endless relationship drama and love triangles between the cast. As one might imagine, there's no shortage of Kennedy on this list! But Kennedy hasn't just embroiled himself in romantic drama; oh no, he's also had some major feuds with other cast members, including Vanderpump's son, Max Todd.
Max Todd tells James Kennedy it was 'the final straw'
It seems like no one on "Vanderpump Rules" has made it through a season without some drama from James Kennedy, and Max Todd is no exception. On Season 9 of "Vanderpump Rules," Kennedy went after Lisa Vanderpump's son, Todd, who had been friends with Kennedy for over ten years. What happened was that Kennedy asked Todd if he wanted to split a salad; Todd pointed out that there was an additional cost for splitting a dish. Kennedy splashed water on Todd and sent him several nasty text messages.
As Bravo points out, Vanderpump tried to have the two men reconcile but Todd was in no mood; he even asked Kennedy if he was high during the fight. "Every time we went out you drank," Todd said to Kennedy during the attempted reconciliation, per Heavy. "It was an escapade of belligerence. ... Do you understand how many f***ing times I've had to deal with you? To be slapped in the face like that, it was the final straw for me." Todd obviously wasn't having anything to do with Kennedy or his apology, which seemed like too little, too late to Todd.
James Kennedy and Max Todd set things right
James Kennedy made amends a second time with Max Todd. Kennedy got his then-fiance, Raquel Leviss, to drop off a gift for Todd because he blocked Kennedy from contacting him, per Bravo. "I am done disrespecting, I am getting a hold of my anger issues, and I am trying to extend this olive branch, make things right," Kennedy told Leviss about Todd.
Leviss gave Todd the gift of an Oculus 2, a virtual reality headset, and Todd was hesitant at the time. However, the gift, and Kennedy's apologies, seemed to work, as Kennedy later revealed in 2021 that he and Todd had reconciled. "Max and I, we're on great terms, you know," Kennedy said. "I wish we could, like, hang out more, but he's just been so busy, and I've been so busy. But we are on good terms."
Kennedy's bombastic behavior has come up before this huge blow-out, and in 2017, a fan asked Lisa Vanderpump on "Watch What Happens Live " with Andy Cohen whether or not she approved of Kennedy and Todd's friendship. "Well I think my son, Max, knows his own mind," Vanderpump said. "If anything he's been a bit of a mentor to James. Look, when children get to a certain age you can't choose their friendships and you cant choose their partners. I've tried that. I'm a control freak and it doesn't work."
