The More Traditional Name Kourtney Kardashian Almost Gave To Her Son Reign

Naming babies is tough work. With so many options and so many different personalities for little infants, along with personal preferences, baby naming can take the full nine months of pregnancy, maybe even longer. And for mothers with multiple children already, like Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, the process of baby naming can be quite tough. You already have kids with names you love, and it might be hard to narrow down names for your newest child. That's why it's no shocker that Kourtney Kardashian had a totally different name for her youngest son, Reign Disick, picked out. But it was a bit surprising that it was pretty traditional in comparison to Reign's.

Kourtney Kardashian was the first to start having children among her younger siblings Kim, Rob, Khloé Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner. Her oldest is son Mason Dash Disick, who just turned 13, and daughter Penelope Scotland Disick is her second-born (she's 10 now and quite the TikToker with cousin North West). Her youngest, for now, is Reign Aston Disick, who's now eight years old. He was the only one of Kourtney's kids who wasn't born on camera, but since then he's been a fixture in the Kardashian-Disick-Barker household. And he almost didn't have the regal-sounding name we know today.

Kourtney Kardashian nearly named Reign something more traditional

"Reign" obviously isn't a very common name and is hardly used as a name to begin with. It worked for Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick, but as she said on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show back in 2019, she wasn't always settled on the name. Kim and Kourtney told Kimmel (with Khloé there as well) about how they wait a few days after birth to choose or settle on a name for their kids. "I did a week the last time. I would try out a different name on different days. The whole day," Kourtney shared. "One day, Reign — his name was Preston for one full day."

Kourtney's had the name "Reign" on her baby name list since before Mason was born, she told People. And when it wasn't chosen for her first born, she put it back on the list for Penelope, but with the spelling "Rain," which went back on the list for Reign when Kourtney thought she was having a girl. However, baby daddy Scott Disick was not really convinced by the name. "I was like, 'I know in my soul his name is Reign,' and Scott didn't believe me," she told Jimmy Kimmel. "And I was like, 'No. I know his name is Reign.' And he's like, 'His name is Preston.' So I was like, 'Fine. Let's call him Preston for a day.' And, it didn't work out." So Reign Aston Disick — R.A.D. — he became.

Kourtney Kardashian is looking to expand her family

While Reign Disick has always had his name once his parents made it official, Kim Kardashian's former flame, Pete Davidson, actually thought it was something else entirely for a while. Kim Kardashian tweeted, that Davidson thought Reign was named "Raymond," thanks to Scott Disick calling Reign that name "all the time." That's just how Scott is, so it's not a surprise. But now that he and Kourtney aren't a thing anymore, and she's married to drummer Travis Barker, Kourtney is trying to expand her family again.

Kourtney and Barker have been really open in the Kardashians' reality series about their journey with IVF (in vitro fertilization). "Travis and I want to have a baby and so my doctor took us down this road of doing IVF and it hasn't been the most amazing experience," she said in an April 2022 episode of "The Kardashians." With this plan for fertility and getting pregnant, Kourtney said that the medication gives her depression and "put [her] into menopause." While there have been constant rumors about her finally getting pregnant after the treatment, as of early January, the mom of three is still drinking wine and living her best newly married life. But based on their track record with names, when the baby is born, they probably won't be named "Raymond." Sorry, Davidson.
